the novel they are actively trying to help, but failing due to mental health, which could be construed as passive. Would this be a flavour of active that works for you? & in general, do you have suggestions for how to frame this sort of character so agents won't immediately ding it for passivity?
Hi Carly! I LOVE your quote that MCs "can be weak-willed while still being active characters that attempt to make decisions." My vampire MC is depressed and recovering from trauma, & their arc is about learning to engage in the world again & connect with loved ones. This means a fair chunk of 1/2

(1) vampires: would a depressed pacifist vampire who is genderfluid, aroace, & obsessed with butterflies be a hard sell?
(2) I write dark themes (eg trauma recovery) mixed with playful humour, love and hope - would this fit your interest in fun, or too dark?
