Unfortunately, due to the way modern dslr cameras are manufactured, sensors come with an IR filter installed.
For normal use cameras, thatโs great! But for Astrophotography, you tend to lose a lot of the vibrant red tones that hydrogen alpha tends to emit. Lots of nebulae contain hydrogen alpha!
A vibrant, true color photo of the core of the Rosette nebula. Various shades from deep reds to light oranges show in the image. Thousands of stars show as small pin pricks of light throughout, making the image visually pop.

I do quite a bit of stargazing and astrophotography in my free time. My mother would joke around saying all I do is go stare at the sky most days ๐ and I said yoink, added an e to the end, and the rest is history ๐

A series of hexagons with a dark background. Inside the frame is multiple different types of leaves and vine designs cut from wood and dyed various colours.
Finished this project! A lil hex tile system for putting up on my wall. Might add some more designs later
Love how the darker stain makes the colors really pop

instead of wasting a wish on a clamp, ask the monkeyโs paw for two other things you need and put your workpiece between its fingers as they curl
The little spalted tamarind bowl I finished earlier. I wanted to make something that felt good to hold, and the shape of this is definitely very tactile. Needed to stabilise some slightly punky parts of the blank, but Iโm pretty pleased with it. #woodturning #woodworking #woodsky #turning
