I was wowed by the art, history, and craftsmanship of John Vasquez Mejiasโ Puerto Rican Civil War. A graphic novel made with hand-carved woodblocks.
Luckily you can go to downtowns on both! Doesnโt matter if you canโt see the colors.
Wow thank you โ I didnโt know this origin story to the origin story of Seattleโs Seafair.
There are basically no bus stops on 12th.
Microsoft Teams has desktop and app versions. Inside Teams there are apps, including one called Teams. Inside it you choose between Channels and Teams. Inside Teams you select a Team. So, there are โTeams app Teams app Teams Teamsโ. Teeming with them.
His wifeโs autobiography (Ge ge ge no Nyobo) really makes that clear. I didnโt understand what they went through until I saw the NHK TV adaptation.
I wonder if thereโs now enough interest in him, anime, and Japan in general to pay for a translation of the book?
When you get to season 9, there is some fun background info on ep 5 Dead File on this page alphabettenthletter.blogspot.com/2013/08/crea...
The character Ben Watanabe was based on Ben Oda, with Irv Watanabeโs name mixed in.
This background came from GI Joeโs Larry Hama.
That quote - and my brief reading of Wikipedia - makes it sound like no one really cared about the bioluminescence until the 90s. But I remember visiting FHL in 1988 on a Pacific Science Center summer camp, and being told the importance of it. Stuck with me.
I flipped through the pages while watching the dog show ๐ . I browsed past some mid-series volumes (eg Homicide vol 2), and lots and lots of superhero titles.
Some real deals:
Feeding Ghosts $10
Paying the land $12
Kent state $10
The Good Asian $6
We only find them when theyโre dead v1+2 $10
I bought:
Dr Radar
Mawrth Valliis
Beast
Puerto Rican War
Frederick Douglass
Harrowing Game
Okay weโre at 5 board-games-in-comics! This is Assorted Crisis Events ish 6 with a recurring Clue-like appearance.
This series is great, and this issue is particularly moving. I love the puzzle pieces and the clocks too. Thank you @denizcamp.bsky.social @ericxyz.bsky.social et al~~
BTW, I donโt think I ever noticed that until 1895, the segment of Belmont from Roy to Lakeview was fittingly called Diagonal Street.
Ben, I noticed that you donโt have an exact date for the rename of Diagonal Ave. A simple ordinance search didnโt provide an answer, except in July 1918 it is called โformer Seattle Blvdโ in a title.
The street descriptions in the Polk guides can narrow us to a year.
Thank you! I can finally share this with someone. The bear attacks have been a big news topic in Japan this year.
Tochigi TV has aired several segments about emergency preparedness of officials and hunters. You gotta see this one for the bear actor~~

The Tohoku shinkansen stops at Omiya. If your goal is to get to the museum, going out of the way for a shinkansen is a pretty big inconvenience. Just grab a regular train. But since the goal here is to take a short trip on the shinkansen, it sounds great.
I love the series Air by @gwillow.me and MK Perker, and just finished vol 2. I missed these TPBs in 2022 - the floppies predate my return comics.
The complexity of the story telling, as well as cubes and gods, reminds me of Tongues and I recommend it as an aperitif before that tome.
For this particular route, I believe you want to look at the Green Lake Electric Railway as its origin in 1889. In the 1933 streetcar map, it looks like it was the number 6 streetcar.
Here's the 2016 route 26 web.archive.org/web/20090915...
Sounds like phd work ๐
Yeah I think youโll need to do it the hard way. But maybe if you fish with an email to the KC Archives youโll come up with pdf schedules? And revision summaries?
I bet it was newsworthy when it was introduced (1973 or later). Do you know how to search Seattle Times and PI archives through SPL?
Shoot I thought that 1988 map was over on wikimedia already. Now Iโve got more work to do before I can cancel my Flickr subscriptionโฆ
When? As others said, you can get route 26x schedule from the wayback machine, just go to older dates for the current metro schedule page. Prior to 2007 the site was transit.metrokc dot gov. I was able to navigate to 2000 26 schedule.
Also, contact the King County Archives.
Looks like preorders start tomorrow~ This is a great time for me to use the new bookmark feature on this post until then
What a strange gap! Is it a licensing issue?
Browsing around a bit, I donโt even see a great bibliography in English. Japanese Wikipedia separates his work into so many genres! Because of Gigantor, the robot manga is a clear place to start. Maybe SF next?
I read Total Recall the book before seeing the film and was disappointed by how much they left out. Later I read We Can Remember It for You Wholesale and was disappointed by how much both the film and the book of the film needlessly added to a fantastic short story.
(Pair with Blade Runner above)
Other than reddit, have you seen discussion of the fan brawl outside the stadium? Suarezโ actions led to that and it should factor into all of the suspensions imo
Ish 5 of Weโre Taking Everyone Down With Us has a nice back and forth during a game of chess. That takes my board-games-in-comics collection to 4 (see previous in retweet thread)
Great work by @ashcanpress.com , Landini, Wordie, and Otsmane-Elhaou . Fun spy/sci fi story, glad I pulled it.
I was literally watching it at the same time! My copy was in English tho.
It was my first viewing. I wondered if the colonel was really never as morally driven as he seemed A Few Dollars More, or if heโs just floating after getting vengeance, or itโs not really a trilogy??
Great first issue of Event Horizon by @cjward.bsky.social , @tristansbones.bsky.social et al. Theyโve - so far! - successfully navigated the treacherous waters of a prequel to one of my favorite movies.
Keep up the good work~ Itโs already different than I imagined.
