There is a mid block crossing of McRae there, but if this connection becomes reality, perhaps worth considering relocating slightly to the north:

Me too. Fortunately, the origin-destination survey for Ottawa does ask that question. The City has 14 percent of the population with no car. Here is the data for 2011 and 2022, also split into downtown, inner urban, etc.:
π¨ Yesterday, Ottawa City Council approved its new zoning bylaw, abolishing parking mandates across all urban and suburban regions of the city!
Hear what councillor @arieltroster.com had to say about the importance of removing parking mandates.
Beautiful but cold day for a ski on the Kichi Sibi Winter Trail. Thankful for the ability to get there by my own skis and the O-train.
Kudos to all the volunteers of the @rideauwintertrail.bsky.social who made this extension happen. This past Friday I skied the entire Rideau Winter Trail from Donald to Heron, then on to Hog's Back. You can walk through the underpass and connect to all the groomed trails at Mooney's Bay. Fantastic!
FYI, Alto isn't the contractor, they are a crown corp. in charge of the project. "Cadence" is the selected P3 contractor. www.altotrain.ca/en/whos-invo...
Can't argue with results π

Transit Signal Priority on ion Light Rail, Region of Waterloo, Ontario (2019).
Trains use a horizontal (stop) or vertical (go) white aspect bar, instead of red or green.
The trains follow a wave and do not stop between stations.

Very excited to see rapid movement on addressing the issues with speed on Finch LRT & the streetcars too, including today's TTC motions. This is a huge opportunity to fix longstanding problems, mirroring what we recommended in our Star article.
3. Bus lane improvements on Hunt Club Road between the Airport Parkway and Bridle Path Dr / Daze St
The detailed budget lists the $11.2M in transit priority funding as going towards three projects:
1. Route 11 improvements (Richmond Rd to Bank St)
2. Bus stop reconfigurations along Baseline Road between Valley Stream and Constellation to improve Routes 68 and 88
And...
No, a portion of this land is where Knoxdale Station is designed as part of the planned LRT Line 1 extension to Barrhaven.
I think regionally some areas have US-style football teams in high school instead of rugby. That said, Canada has a slightly modified version of football - the most significant difference being Canadian Football has 3 downs vs. 4 downs for American football:

It is very regional. It is super popular in Victoria. All the high schools have teams - both public and private. It is the main "Jock" sport with pep rallies and so on. When I moved to Ottawa for university I was extremely surprised there was no varsity team and the rugby culture was just not there.
What do you mean it's not possible to take transit that far? Did you watch the video?
@helps.octranspo.com Good evening, there is currently a road closure on Queen Mary Street on the west side of the Vanier Parkway. What is the detour for Route 18?
No, that isn't quite accurate. "Any other prescribed purpose" leaves the door open, but the province has to first prescribe those other purposes (other than bike lanes) through regulation. Only if/once they've prescribed bus lanes would general car lane to bus lane conversions be prohibited.
Bus lanes, not bid lanes.
No, that is not my understanding. The province would have to first introduce legislation or regulation that ban conversion of general traffic lanes to bid lanes. Currently that is not prohibited and permission is not required.
Other uses would need to first be prescribed by the Province. It is essentially a placeholder to prescribe other uses in the future. The current iteration of Bill 60 only prohibits bicycle lanes.
I hear you. I don't have a crystal ball, but the federal funding seems to be there (while weakened with the latest federal budget). I am personally optimistic the funding will be secured sooner rather than later.
... Construction will start as soon as funding is secured.
For Merivale, the environment assessment design process is just beginning in tandem with the Baseline-Merivale Secondary Plan.
For Baseline, there are some curbside bus lanes being added on approach to Greenbank - construction has started. A design for median bus lanes from Algonquin College to Data Centre Road has finished detailed design and staff are applying for federal funding...
Why do this instead of precast curbs with gaps for drainage?
ALTO has been pretty clear when visiting municipalities along the route that public consultation activities would spin up in 2026: "Alto plans to launch a comprehensive consultation process in 2026 with strategically planned and located public meeting opportunities."

An excellent video on how to modify protected intersection design for high cycling volumes... and a great opportunity to practice my French!!

First look π at new #RapidTO transit priority installation on Bathurst south of Fort York. More white line painting to come, but a great start! What do you think?
