This reminds me of a slogan and campaign for the museums and art communities, by former mayor, Bud Clark. Clad in a raincoat and standing much like this bird, but backwards, he stated, “Expose yourself to art.” Terrific capture!

Rufous hummingbird landing near the top of the fountain. Bath time for a small bird.
For a few short months rufous hummers take their place in our area. Their place seems to be everywhere, however. They display a fierce, aggressive demeanor, making nice with no one. Kindness matters, they just haven’t learned it.

Gadwall coming in for a landing on the pond, the reflection broken up by a loose feather.
Unseasonably warm weather had the birds up early and much more active than we generally expect to see. The gadwalls were unsettled, flying in and out of the pond area.

Barred owl nestled next to the tree trunk.
They are swift, silent fliers, blending with tree trunks imperceptibly. We watched him jet through the forest in pursuit of a squirrel, becoming a 15 minute nature drama. Crows intervened and inevitably saved said squirrel. What a morning, what a show.
