5 things to consider before running for office
Identify the issues that youβd like to tackle in your community. By starting small and local, you can map out the change youβd like to enact and determine which office would be most suited to your goals and expertise. Research the office youβd like to run for. What year are you running in? Is the seat youβre running for a vacant one, or does a tried and true incumbent hold it? These are just some questions to ask yourself as you plan your next steps. Plan your finances! Fundraising will be critical when it comes to running an effective and successful campaign. Research campaign finance laws in your state and determine how youβll raise money to hit your target goal. Assemble your team. It takes a community to build a people-powered movement, so who can you rely on to help you get out the word (and vote!) about your campaign? Be sure to build a team you can trust to help you get the job done. Source: NPR
