San Franciscans submitted 2,000+ ideas to rename the Great Highway, which officially closed to cars last week.

Lawyer by day, dinosaur by night: Meet the man who keeps Dolores Park weird A lawyer during the day, Trevor Mead slips into his luminous dinosaur costume after 5 p.m. and turns Dolores Park into Jurassic Park.

Trevor Mead became a lawyer in part to support his newest nighttime hobby: transforming into an LED T-Rex roaming thru Dolores Park.

At night, "Doloresaurus" descends, an object of fascination for dogs, kids, & all manner of parkgoers.

Korean couple retires, passes the bouquet at 45-year-old flower shop Before coming to San Francisco, Insook never worked a day as a florist. Today, she's been selling bouquets for 45 years. But not for long.

On Valentine’s Day in 1980, Insook and Kwangduk Kim, a young Korean couple, sold their first bouquet of flowers.

45 years later, they’ll sell their last — but their Balboa Green Garden Florist will continue on with new owners.

A cafe serving up hope and lattes in San Francisco’s Tenderloin City Hope Cafe operates a free cafe and a sense of normalcy in the heart of a troubled inner-city neighborhood.

Three days a week, residents flock to a cafe tucked between an abandoned hotel and an auto body shop in the Tenderloin, and queue outside to get in.

They keep coming for the top-shelf coffee, and the "radical hospitality."

‘It’s Charles’s world, we’re just living in it.’ Charles Phan, Vietnamese cook extraordinaire, remembered. “A real person who had done something extraordinary and genuine,” he gave his time and wisdom — the most generous thing you can do.

Charles Phan, the famed Vietnamese cook who started the Slanted Door in the Mission & transformed Asian cooking, died this week. He was 62.

“The Mission — Charles changed it. He was the pioneer of the Mission...Charles opened it up.”
