So often when you calibrate the Dexcom, the next reading is a full 30% higher than the number you entered. It's like you work for the Dexcom algorithm and not vice versa. #diabetes #t1d
A very quick explanation of what I haven't accomplished on my #T1D memoir project over the past 5 months. Features memory of the best job I ever had, a map of Gates, NY, and some exciting research success. #diabetes #chronicillness #type1diabetes

Morning. #t1d #diabetes
This came in the box with my new insulin pump. For the record, no one holding an insulin pump is ever as happy as that lady. Or her dog. #t1d #diabetes
Late to the party, but just watched The Human Trial (2022) by @lisahepner.bsky.social - moving documentary about stage 2 study of the ViaCyte insulin-producing cells. Available free on Hoopla - thanks, local library!
Real science is slow. Easy solutions are grifts. #t1d #diabetes
Sadly I no longer live in a city with Wegmans, but the rest is normal for me, too!
If you're not familiar with the podcast ologies.bsky.social, it's always great. This episode in particular, while not about #diabetes per se, speaks to #chronicillness generally as they discuss MS specifically.
(There's also an excellent two-parter on diabetes).
A nice weekend at Allerton Park in Monticello, IL for my wife's birthday. A nice place for post-meal sugar-control walks! #t1d #diabetes #allerton

Further cautious hope for islet cell transplantation. #T1D #diabetes
Itβs true in main, and itβs helpful to remind diabetics to take care. But given that we diabetics often grow up with this stark moral opposition, itβs no wonder weβre exhausted and slightly neurotic. #t1d #diabetes #chronicillness

My grandma used to give us wrapped boxes of Lucky Charms for Christmas. At Christmas 1987 (5 months after diagnosis), my brother unwrapped his box as normal. I unwrapped mine excitedly. It was Cheerios.
