Happy to share my analysis of the Lenaimon judgment, where the #CJEU examined whether the EU-Canada #CETA has direct effect, and whether it precludes certain national visa requirements for Russian nationals.

🚨 Happy to share my article on recent US pressures against EU #digital regulation, and Europe's (potential) response. Even after the #EU-#US #trade framework agreement, transatlantic relations remain volatile.

Silhouettes of three people in front of a weathered British flag, with the headline: Misrepresentations around human rights and immigration fuelling calls to quit ECHR, Oxford report finds
NEW: An Oxford report warns that misleading media coverage is shaping public debate on immigration and human rights.
The study finds the ECHR is frequently misreported in deportation cases, fueling misconceptions that erode trust in the legal system.

Quo vadis, Europe? What’s at stake for the rule of law?
David Althoff, @mkonstantinidis.bsky.social , Lorenzo Gradoni, Gustavo Becker, Marta Requejo Isidro, Joana Mendes and @walterbrunowb.bsky.social reflect on the evolving challenges facing the rule of law.
🇪🇺 75 years since Schuman’s vision, Europe remains a community of law.
But today, the rule of law is being tested, by digital disruption, shrinking trust, & shifting values.
@uni.lu researchers @lcel.uni.lu ask:
Quo vadis, Europe?
What’s next for the legal backbone of the EU?

OK. Tariff corner. Today, the first Trump tariffs came into force for EU & UK goods. First up: steel. As of March 12 steel articles (defined in Proclamation 9705) are subject to a 25% tariff. So are derivative steel articles (defined in Proclamation 9980). /1

Happy to share my new article on the Declaration on the ECJ's Komstroy judgment by the #EU and (almost all) member states. I critically examine the aspired translation of Komstroy to international law and its implications for #ISDS and the Energy Charter Treaty.

Glad to share my CELIS article on the Commission’s anti-subsidy investigation in Chinese electric vehicles. It illustrates the geopoliticisation of trade enforcement and, arguably, affirms the ‘de-risking’ approach to EU-China economic relations.
