the first movie was a pretty good space opera remake of Kurosawa hidden fortress
Here, hear it from the man himself.
honestly, no way I vote for that fuckin guy
eh, pay off my student loans and mortgage, buy a house not on a busy street and never have to work again? definitely would have to see the cash in advance tho
if it wasn't a world-destroying atrocity it would be kind of funny how much time and money and energy is being put into convincing everyone to love AI and still the general consensus is like "meh"
Iβd do almost anything for 2 billion dollars
It can be possible πββοΈ
7/im kinda sick of repeating stuff so if anythingβs unclear to you at this point, sorry π€·ββοΈ
6/ when shit gets so bad that they have no choice other than to leave, thatβs a tragedy, not a joke and not the natural course of things.
5/ pretty much every place that people have made a community and a home is worth fighting for. thatβs what Iβm trying to say.
4/ looking at it in black and white, assuming the government is a full representation of the people and culture of a place, is shortsighted and ignorant thinking
3/ maybe they have kids or are sick and need help from their families, maybe they care for elderly parents, maybe they have a job they love, there are lots of possible reasons. maybe they think the place theyβre from is worth fighting for
2/ the people living there may not have money to leave, of course. But moreover they may not wish to leave because they have family and personal connections there, or even just feel a connection to the place they were born and raised
1/ the culture in those places is more than just the government. just like the culture of America at large is more than Donald Trump and his cronies.
ok this is why Iβm thinking you donβt argue in good faith cos I literally explained all of this in my previous posts but I will say it again I guess
lol frankly I didnβt dig very deep I saw them say that and went βnahhhh byeβ

I have friends who live in red states. Friends who are queer, trans, women, racial minorities, usually a combination of these things. Who have reasons to stay where they are. and I donβt like hearing them and people like them talked about like that. Is that so hard to understand?
But here goes:
Iβm speaking to and about folks who claim to have philosophies that align with mine. Things like everyone deserving human rights, relative safety and medical care. But then they take this attitude thatβs hypocritical and dismissive
Iβm really starting to doubt youβre arguing in good faith
and if you are in a major city or a smaller city with a notable immigrant population you can also find ethnic groceries that arenβt even expensive, ShopRite may not sell zaatar but I definitely have a big jar of it I bought at some place in west Philly
Yeah the availablility of international ingredients in the standard grocery is highly dependent on the local demographics (my shoprite Philly has less Asian stuff than seattle Fred Meyer did but a whole Italian aisle, the one by the good h mart has a Caribbean section etc)
like are European/british groceries generally carrying better stuff sure, but our stores do have fresh food unless you only went to family dollar
I was tempted to reply to the og post but it had already descended into βfresh food is a specialty item in American groceriesβ euro circle jerk so I am staying away π
I should hope itβs obvious why I would say something like βtransgender people lose drivers licenseβ or βabortions illegalβ happening anywhere in the country should be considered a tragedy and shame on the whole country and not just a laugh because they live in a bad place with hicks
and contributes to kinda blaming or abandoning the ones who stay
and the solution folks often turn to is setting up/sharing funds or networks to get ppl out of those places, which is great if thatβs what someone is looking for, but ignores the very real reasons people might not want to leave their homes and families
because there is a habit with USAmerican liberals and leftists to say βoh they got what they voted forβ etc
Ignoring that people who didnβt vote for that shit still have to live under it if it wins
Which we should know very well
I was saying that queer people living in places like Florida or Texas or Kansas or what have you is in itself proof those places are not a monolith
