I heard someone pronounce turquoise "tur-kwahz" yesterday, and it still haunts me today.
Ultra Heaven Volume 1 by Keiichi Koike, translated by Ajani Oloye (Last Gasp) reviewed by Brian Nicholson www.tcj.com/reviews/ultr...
New anxiety nightmare just dropped (in my brain)โcoming back from a break and seeing that a manga got printed quickly because it went unedited straight to a proofreader who knows zero Japanese AND doesn't have enough lived experience with US English to understand idioms and slang
Just one of those scream into the void days because it feels like the very fabric of reality has no chill

I learned the answer as a kid from an episode of The Tick animated show and this fact has somehow never left my brain
Also, as an editor (don't do much of that these days), I prioritized feedback bc of my freelance experiences. Admittedly, it took me some time to get the formula right, but whenever I have the chance, I make sure to emphasize the importance of feedback from editors to freelancers.
As a translator, working with Ed has been great bc of his commitment to constructive feedback. Despite doing this for a while, I'm still learning, and it's hard to improve without feedback.
Citizens United was obviously a huge mistake, but that's even more apparent to me today
Like many people, I've had a lot on my mind in the past few weeks, and I realize one of the biggest problems with the US today is that we treat billionaires and huge corporations like or better than regular people when they're so rich that human laws, both written and unwritten, don't apply to them
EVERYONE, please take a look!
This is the very first manga in Japan to focus on the experience of mixed-race people in Japan!
It will be available on Amazon starting in March.
The story is truly amazing, so Iโd love for as many people as possible to check it out and share!
The other day, I saw a delivery person on an e-bike get stopped by some random Manhattanite and told to get off the sidewalk. It's not the first time this week that I've seen someone do something about a thing we'd normally let go, and I'm starting to think this is the energy we need in 2025.
Ultra Heaven by Keiichi Koike โ volume 1 is coming soon!

The daily announcements of terrible choices for the next administration is like watching increasingly horrifying clowns coming out of a clown car in slow motion
I think I'm going to be listening to Kendrick's "Alright" quite a bit for the foreseeable future
This gives me Golden Egg vibes, and I love it (also, now I know "gros" is French slang for "bro")

Perhaps someday I'll have some quality content on here, but right now all I have to share is this song from my high school days that randomly popped into my head at 1:00 am

A snapshot of the character JP from Craig of the Creek duck walking on a couch with a serious look on his face
Catching sight of one of the characters duck walking is one of the many reasons I appreciate Craig of the Creek
elder millennialhood is having a facebook profile wall with nothing but 14 years of happy birthday posts from people you haven't seen in over a decade
Lots of good manga on here, including two I worked on: The Summer Hikaru Died and River's Edge (which I edited but for some odd reason has the proofreader listed as editor in the article)
Just wanted something light for breakfast from the in-hotel bakery and nearly everything savory has ham in it. I almost forgot this was a thing here, but at least they label it, so no surprise ham for me.
About to take off for Japan for the first time in...9 years (?) See ya on the other side!
