My most controversial music opinion is that Noel Gallagher is a weirdly underrated song-writer, subjected to a level of snobbery, suspicion and nit-picking that isn’t applied to most of the other great British song-writers.
Absolutely right. Even simple things like calling it Cigarettes and Alcohol, not any other combination- because that rhythm and choice of words (not booze, fags, cigs, beer, drinks, smokes, tabs, shots, wine, spirits, tokes, rollies, lines) completely works.
