The House budget bill would rebrand ICHRAs as CHOICE Arrangements, add a tax credit for small businesses that start offering them, and relax some of the existing ICHRA rules. Here's my summary: www.healthinsurance.org/blog/budget-...

Reading the CBO estimates on BBB and this part surprised me: it seems to me they’re saying CSRs wouldn’t be funded in states where non-Hyde abortion is required to be covered, so silver loading would continue.

The reason private insurance exists on such a massive scale in the US is because the US failed to enact national health insurance in 1915-1919, 1930s, and 1940s.

It exists because doctors and southern politicians blocked the creation of national health insurance.

It grew up in that absence.

Plan to see more from me in a few months though - currently on parental leave for our new addition, Jasper, who is already much beloved by his big sister. 😊

Excited to have finally joined over here and looking forward to staying connected. For new friends - I’m Director of Gvt affairs at HealthSherpa and share mostly insights about broker/EDE involvement in the exchanges (see my recent paper for a sampling!)

Qualifying life events that trigger ACA special enrollment | healthinsurance.org Outside of open enrollment, a special enrollment period allows you to enroll in an ACA-compliant plan (on or off-exchange) if you experience a qualifying life event.

Found a citation from the wonderful Louise Norris so I’m feeling very confident saying he’s got until the end of the month! www.healthinsurance.org/obamacare/qu...

I will double check with one of our experts to be sure and circle back, but that was my read from a quick glance at the operating docs!

If he already has ACA coverage in a federal marketplace state it should be relatively straightforward! Fingers crossed 🀞🏻

Pretty sure move SEP now follows β€œaccelerated prospective effective dates” as of the 2024 NBPP, for what it’s worth! (You used to have to apply by mid month, should now have until end from a quick peek at the FFM enrollment manual…)

The ACA makes it easier to get health insurance on your own (and avoid job lock).

Since 2021, enhanced ACA subsidies have made more middle and upper middle income people eligible for financial help to buy health coverage.

I can’t say that’s driving this trend at all, but it seems worth mentioning
