yeah, it feels like the next development of the DRS era of overtaking which wasn't something I liked in the first place

I wouldn't say it's *bad*, I'm just not sure it's what I'm looking for. if it's a short era it might be an interesting change for a while I suppose?

pretty wild though how varied the reaction has been; the drivers seem to hate it, some fans hate it, others really like it

like Russell and Leclerc's exchanging of the lead at the start didn't really do much for me because it just felt too artificial

it being so strategic is sort of interesting, but the overtakes end up feeling a bit inconsequential because you know it's unlikely to stick for any meaningful time

alright, so my initial impression from that (admittedly not the full race): I'm not really sold, sorry 😶‍🌫️

seems like there's lots of overtaking (especially early in the race) but they're mostly passes on the straights based on who has more battery, which isn't especially exciting to me

catching up on sky's extended highlights, and seeing Fernando's interval on the timing tower as 15 minutes behind is quite a sight

this is a comparison I'm not sure anyone's going to get, but this is giving me huge 2010s BTCC vibes where the BMWs were absolutely cracked off the start because their launch was so much better than all the FWD cars

so they were just guaranteed to jump like 3 or 4 cars at least into T1 every race
