Housing is a Human Right! The Board approved $53 million from Measure W to expand permanent supportive housing, including 7 projects in Oakland & Berkeley. Centering those with lived experience of being unhoused is critical to ensuring that our investments are equitable and impactful.

Today, our Board took action to: defer the layoffs, work with AHS on other options + report back on March 17, and form an ad hoc committee with AHS & labor to ID options for this and next fiscal years.
Congratulations to Oakland’s own Alysa Liu for winning 🥇 Gold in women’s singles figure skating at the 2026 Winter Olympics - the first such American woman since 2002! We couldn’t have a better representative on the Olympic stage for Oakland and for Asian-American women in sports!

Every resident should be able to access health care, courts, schools, and services without fear. ICE should not be above the law, disrupting our daily activities and endangering our communities. Coordinated response plans and ICE-Free Zones are essential tools in building community safety and power.

Thanks to St. Mary's Center for hosting our West Oakland dispatch center, and to CROP for joining us and providing critical re-entry services.
This massive, coordinated effort gives us the data needed to advocate for resources and to enhance our local housing and health strategies. I am deeply grateful to every resident who lent their time and heart to this effort, and to our unhoused neighbors who talked with us and shared experiences.
Thank you to all the volunteers who joined us this morning to connect w/ our unhoused neighbors. The strength of Alameda County has always been our community’s willingness to show up for one another, and seeing over 1,300 volunteers rise before dawn for this year’s Point In Time Count is inspiring.🧵
