And personally i find that using texture-less brushes to block out shapes/shadows and then adding some details with textured brushes works nicely !

And regarding brushes, I use a mix of brushes I collected over the years
But for this type of stuff I really recommend brushes without opacity settings, and ideally with some texture ! For example Aaron Griffin brushes (free on gumroad) are really nice to get started ^^

Not furry porn but I’ve been wanting to get into drawing landscapes / backgrounds so here are some foggy cliffs
I’ll try to do those types of sketches regularly to get better, maybe I’ll eventually get good enough to start including characters in them :3
