#SABCS25 is underway! Julia Palmer, Mary Beth Terry, Kristy Brown, and advocate Stacey Tinianova discussed alcohol consumption, genetics of alcohol metabolism, and obesity during a special session on lifestyle factors and breast cancer risk moderated by Seema Khan.
Great turnout for the @americancancersoc.bsky.social Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser! Proud to be part of Team

This symposium brought together investigators from Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell University. So many familiar faces, great science and new collaborative opportunities!

Spent the last couple days back in Ithaca for the Intercampus Cancer Metabolism Symposium where it was a pleasure giving a keynote address related to our work exploring the intersection of obesity and genetics, and their role in driving breast cancer risk.
Running for hours gives you a lot of time to reflect. Itβs amazing what thoughts keep you going: family and loved ones cheering for you on the course and from far away, how cancer patients keep fighting, and realizing that you are fortunate to be able to do this so donβt give up!
What a day!! The Garmin KC Marathon is the hilliest marathon Iβve run and possibly the most rewarding. Ecstatic with having placed 3rd in my age group and so grateful for the opportunity to push myself.

Beautiful day for the Head for the Cure 5k to raise funds, awareness and hope for the Kansas brain cancer community. What a turnout! Looks like there may have been nearly 2,800 participants towards a goal of raising $700,000.

The AMSC put together an amazing program! Canβt wait to see everyone and get some miles in on Sunday. Also excited to be taking the reins as Secretary-Treasurer at the end of the meeting. Dr Boord, you have big shoes to fill!
Can we please go one day without another attack on science (and everything else)? Whoever thinks that keeping people in a constant state of anxiety is productive, needs to think again.

President Trump's push to freeze federal funding to universities has targeted elite institutions, like Harvard and Columbia. But many other schools are concerned that it threatens the future of research and development programs. nyti.ms/42N36hH
Congrats!
Morale in academic research community right now is whatever is below rock bottom. The uncertainty and unpredictability are overwhelming. The mental and physical toll on U.S. based scientists is significant and will be long-lasting.
