Spent the last couple days back in Ithaca for the Intercampus Cancer Metabolism Symposium where it was a pleasure giving a keynote address related to our work exploring the intersection of obesity and genetics, and their role in driving breast cancer risk.

Running for hours gives you a lot of time to reflect. It’s amazing what thoughts keep you going: family and loved ones cheering for you on the course and from far away, how cancer patients keep fighting, and realizing that you are fortunate to be able to do this so don’t give up!

What a day!! The Garmin KC Marathon is the hilliest marathon I’ve run and possibly the most rewarding. Ecstatic with having placed 3rd in my age group and so grateful for the opportunity to push myself.

Can we please go one day without another attack on science (and everything else)? Whoever thinks that keeping people in a constant state of anxiety is productive, needs to think again.

How Trump’s attack on universities is putting research in peril Scientists have little information as the US government freezes and cancels their funding.

Morale in academic research community right now is whatever is below rock bottom. The uncertainty and unpredictability are overwhelming. The mental and physical toll on U.S. based scientists is significant and will be long-lasting.
