This natural gas boiler has been producing hot water for my small midcentury apartment building since 1975. We will finally retire it next month and replace it with a pair of electric heat pumps. Stay tuned.
It doesn’t matter whether the rate of global warming is increasing. It’ll never cease to amaze me that people don’t care that it’s happening at all. It should be the most alarming thing ever.

This week I toured a successful deep climate-and-energy retrofit of a non-market, multi-family housing community near King Edward & Trafalgar Streets. Electric heat pumps now provide residents with efficient heating & cooling while upgraded windows & insulation keep suites comfortable.

I am saddened to learn that Vancouver Car Free Days will not take place this year. These events celebrate our neighbourhoods & small businesses, & encourage folks to use active transport. I’ll work with Car Free Vancouver Society, impacted orgs & businesses, & Council to get them back on the road!

The phrase "war on cars" exists; the actual war on cars does not.
Unless and until Councillor Zhou authentically apologizes on his WeChat channel, his lie stands as truth. So far, he’s made zero effort to do so.

In its 2023 budget, the province committed $100 million to fund such active transportation infrastructure over three years. While this represented the province’s largest investment of its kind until that point, given active transportation’s extensively documented co-benefits, the amount is modest. (To put it into perspective, the funding amounts to 0.2% of the $5 billion the province subsequently directed to widening Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley.)
