The avocado toast of the younger generation. ;)

Nothing against video games, I love them too.

I just don't let them ruin my relationships, get in the way of personal hygiene, or become my entire personality.

It's like the 50s except they don't even bring home a paycheck anymore, they just play video games and expertly evade any sense of personal responsibility or desire to better themselves.

I will never stop being pissed that so many men's brand of feminism seems to be "Woman not only CAN do anything, they SHOULD do everything." And they proceed to marry women and then do absolutely jackshit.

Assuming the AI bubble doesn't explode before this "idyllic future" they keep promising us ... The best I can do is hope that AI is as bad at monitoring bill payments as it is as every-fucking-thing else.

I get a little more furious every time I see an AI enthusiast saying soon our lives will be wonderful because we won't have to work.

These same motherfuckers always oppose UBI. So how are we going to paying our bills when we're replaced by AI? Per always all they actually see is dollar signs.

A Golden Retriever lying a wood floor with a moose toy. His mouth is wide open with the toy in it and his eyes are rolled back in a way that makes him look feral.

Can confirm.

I do an audiobook I know I already like, which usually means a reread.

Lately it's been Dungeon Crawler Carl.

This is mine too. A video game that requires very low mental investment, preferably one where most of mental investment is choosing from options and then I use digital dice to choose.

I would not allow this to happen to my worst enemy. It's inhumane.

I don't even remember that month except as a haze of agony, alarm clock based Tylenol/Ibuprofen rotation and the constant taste of clove oil. It was hell.

My three most painful experiences were a tooth infection, a gallstone attack, and whatever the fuck was causing my pain after a uterine artery embolization.

The tooth infection, though, was one where the dentist seemed to think it was fine to make me wait a month to fix it.

I encountered Bufo toxin in a job once, when someone claimed they got Bufo poisoned while doing a reptile and amphibian show for kids. I was like ... Suuuuure that's what happened.

The first time I kissed a woman was like magic and suddenly I was like "Wait ... All those times I said I didn't experience physical attraction I'm pretty sure I was full of shit." ๐Ÿ˜†

I had a complicated dating history, but definitely one of the reasons I never even dated women was because they were so pretty and soft and I was terrified of rejection.

In retrospect, the fact that I did not give a fuck if a man rejected me should have also been a hint.

I very successfully convinced myself for many years that several key indicators that I wasn't attracted to men were due to religious trauma, OCD or both.

I commiserate with attempting to be het for Jesus.

When that failed totally, I instead tried to convince myself I was bi for the sake of not having to deal with both identifying as not straight and actually dating like I wasn't straight at the same time.

Brigham Young University apologizes after sending congratulation notices to rejected applicants BYU issued an apology after sending congratulatory notifications to nine students who were not accepted into the school.

As someone who went to BYU for the first two and a half years of college ... I kinda think they had it right and should always congratulate all the applicants who don't end up there.

I am very tired of hearing about all the things he can't do in the same breath as being told he's doing them.

After all, you can't be the SMARTEST if anyone else agrees with you, so you have to go out on a limb with some totally unsubstantiated bullshit.

27.02.2026 01:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

All of this stems from the toxic need to be the smartest person in the room, and to convince yourself that you are by disagreeing with the consensus of experts.

I wish people would think for half a second if they actually know enough to give people advice on things that could literally be life and death.

27.02.2026 01:24 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

When people say ignorant shit like that all it does is remind me that there are a lot of people out there who think they can hold themselves forward as experts when they can't even wrap their brains around the most basic concepts.

Still worth it because of the decreased risk of serious outcomes.

I think we need two COVID vaccines per year at the current level of effectiveness, and I would gladly get them if they were made available.

I also get them with the full expectation I could still get COVID, and thus continue to take other measures to avoid infection.

As a former infectious disease epidemiologist ... I cannot tell you how much i wish people who have no idea of what they speak would stfu.

Yes, I think treating a dog badly is a red flag where I would not trust that person to treat other people well. And I do also think it's a red flag if a dog who is normally chill doesn't like someone.

I just don't think it's safe to use the inverse as a green flag.

23.02.2026 19:01 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Not to mention, treating animals well can be a good sign of someone's character, but there are also plenty of people where they treat their dogs vastly better than they do people.

Been thinking about it a lot since a documentary I watched about a really awful serial killer with a beautiful Golden.
