Making it make sense: Epstein wasn't a global mastermind. He did not orchestrate a vast conspiracy that led us to today.
He was a very rich man with connections to other very rich men. The shared culture of these men is that they have a right to dominate and abuse others without consequence.

Now, just six months into Trump’s term, Ellison has procured for himself a sweeping empire, ruling over acres’ worth of A.I. infrastructure, gaining a megasized media arm for himself via Paramount-Skydance, potentially winning another powerful media apparatus with TikTok, and seeing his own ideologies and goals reflected by a friendly White House. The Trump 2.0 era has been spectacular for “one rich asshole called Larry Ellison”—mostly because he’s done so much to shape it.
anyway congrats, as ever, to Larry Ellison slate.com/technology/2...

Agreed. I have never not conflated the two of them in my mind. There must be a reason and this logic is good enough.
I have long said people don't be hatin Chief Justice John Roberts as much as they should be hatin Chief Justice John Roberts
Pretty sure we have the technology and bandwidth in 2025 AD to show more than 10 or 20 things at a time in the lists on the internets by default. And yet…

When you see Mamdani looking all normal doing normal person things—petting bodega cats, riding public transport—you realize just how bizarre and estranged our average candidate for public office is. Rich martians in flesh suits
Depends on the pump. Portable ones can be tough. My little hand lyzene takes a few minutes and is really hard to get it over 80 psi. Definitely wouldn’t use this to replace a floor pump. I’d probably end up carrying both if I had an electric one just because of battery fear.
I ride with folks that have them and agree. Fantastic. On my list of $$ bike stuff I want. One word of warning: they can get really hot so use that extender/shield thing if you inflate a TPU tube that has a plastic valve stem or it will melt!
It’s great when someone has it on the group ride though!

Mamdani is already getting the criminals out of NYC!
If I understand correctly, Nevada's logic is that Boring Co. violated the law SO MUCH after its _first_ consent decree, that the fine for all instances would be unduly burdensome, whereas $240,000 should be plenty to deter Elon Musk in the future.
I understand that Democrats are not in control of Congress or the White House but it would be interesting to read a news story about why groceries are actually ruinously expensive right now.
Some things I've learned in my first few weeks:
1) There is a grey market candy swapping racket between janitors, TSA agents, CSRs, and everyone else who has to stand someplace all day at the airport.
Hi-chews, sour candies, and gummy anything are in highest demand.
REPORTER: Should ERs check immigration status before treating a dying patient?
LEAVITT: That's probably not a question for me to answer. That's a question for healthcare professionals and legal experts to answer.
(That's not a no!)
