Something that sometimes gets missed is that the government does not “give” or “take away” rights. Rights are “unalienable” & “endowed by the Creator.” You can’t earn them or lose them. They are either protected (by a legitimate government) or not (by a therefore illegitimate government).

Pe Kha Lau was the first person who died due to the pause on foreign aid. She died on February 11, almost a month ago. Certainly hundreds if not thousands have died since.

I pulled my kids out and homeschooled this year. No COVID, no flu, no norovirus, now no worry about measles (have baby under age one at home). I couldn’t conscience continued infections knowing what they do. I also understand I’m privileged to have that option and I feel totally let down by schools
I feel like we aren’t being honest enough with ourselves about how bad / dangerous this is going to get. MAGA preppers have been fantasizing about the collapse of society and persecution/execution of political opponents. Now we have administration officials suggesting they will make it a reality.
They are telling us what they are going to do. They are telling us on X. They are telling us on Fox News (Hegseth saying JAGS were fired so they “wouldn’t get in the way” of what comes next). In all seriousness: Be smart. Make a plan. Get your documents together. Get cash. Just in case.
And just as the FDIC was established after the Gilded Age then crash of 29 to insure the assets of Americans, we may be looking at its dismantling and the possibility of our banked $$ evaporating overnight, with no recourse.
