Back in Stormblood I ran a dungeon a billion times to get this chest piece. It's a tank chest so I never got to really use it. But now that glamour is unrestricted, the time to use it is finally here.

My friend sent me this screenshot about Grace from RE and I'm angry that it's so specifically targeted at me hahah Girl, same. I get you, Grace.
Some old personal work.
We used this to test the rough line treatment that ended up in the Hyper Light Breaker trailer.

Oh yeah wasn't WHM straight up locked out of parties in Stormblood? I remember NEVER seeing them and only seeing SCH+AST everywhere. I ran into some similar trouble as I played a lot of RDM and well..aside from rez for prog you didn't want RDM ever.
stunning, positively radiant
But yeah there's my rant, having a ton of experience on both WoW+FFXIV I've seen what both sides do. For me personally I would rather have the lesser evil of samey jobs but being able to play what I want over getting declined from 20 M+ groups on fury warrior because my spec doesn't bring anything.
In a perfect world yes, jobs could all be unique with their own strengths, but this is an MMO. We are all wild animals that want the most optimal comp if there is a clear outlier.
And we've even seen this expansion what having a job that's really good at one specific thing brings. Look at PCT being OP as hell in FRU and VPR being OP as fuck in M6S. The caster role in FRU PF was often locked to PCT and it was very common to see double VPR in M6S.
So yeah, I think people should really be careful what they wish for. All jobs bringing something unique means only the best of those unique jobs get to sit at the raiding table. The 2 minute meta and jobs being similar means you can happily play whatever you want.
I played Viper in FRU, I was literally griefing by being on that job for the first 3 phases of that fight. The job is complete utter trash for downtime heavy fights. But I love playing it and my static was cool with me bringing it. If this was Stormblood it wouldn't be allowed.
There will always be a meta of "the best jobs" for groups that do world first races or speed kill groups, but if you aren't engaging with those, you can play whatever the fuck you want in the current 2 minute meta.
I have sat in M+ parties that were forming and we were waiting on a specific dps that would bring lust, so every dps without lust is suddenly removed from the pool of players that could be invited. The 2 minute meta in FFXIV is flawed, but at least you can play what job you want.
I play fury warrior, which up until Midnight, didn't bring shit to M+. No one wanted a fury warrior when they could pick a ret paladin or frost dk instead, because both of those specs brought waaaaay more utility than my spec.
Like, look over at WoW. They don't have a buff meta as like, the only real big raid buff is lust. But they do invite you to parties based on what utility you bring. Everyone will always love having a warlock or mage. For M+ specifically you're really only invited if you bring utility.
And you know what happened in Stormblood? Raid groups ONLY wanted NIN/DRG/BRD. Those jobs had stuff like slashing debuff, NIN had smoke screen+shadewalker to help tanks with aggro mitigation. Jobs having specific utility=only those jobs get brought. No SAM/VPR/MCH allowed.
I like that whenever I read up on the 2 minute discourse in FFXIV, I can tell exactly who didn't play the game during Stormblood. There's a chunk of people that want buffs removed and jobs to get unique utility. And my sweet summer child...we had jobs having unique utility, it was Stormblood.
Very good.
It's really fun thus far! It does exactly what stuff like MMOs and survival games do for me. It's like the gaming equivalent of popping bubble wrap in my brain and I love that kind of thing.
We are going in! This game will be dangerous for me because I love mindlessly watering things and cleaning areas in video games.

The dodge timing just had to make sense and it thankfully does now! So I'm happy to finally get back to my run, since I'd put it off until the patch hit. Headed for my second hero now!
Dodges feel less like you need to be pixel perfect, which is great. It's a far less frustrating experience for sure. And I don't mean less frustrating=easier. The game wasn't all that hard prior to the change, so it wasn't a situation where the game needed to be made easier.
Okay played Code Vein 2 for a few hours after the big patch and combat is feeling way better! It's way more snappy and responsive. And like, there is still some inevitable jank that's also present in the devs' previous games, but it's something I'm used to from them.
The new criterion dungeon is really pretty!
Some good boys are in this place I just got to!
