Thatβs sounds fun. If I ever get a hold of Dadβs Miata, though could be a fun trip. The stretch between Victorville and Barstow isnβt very exciting. Also I have driven most of it through LA so I could skip that.

Light leaks are usually just door seals. I hat a big sheet of self adhesive foam and automatically do doors on any new to me camera
I get that. Glasses and cameras are not good friends
All the smaller RF/scale focus cameras are nice. I have a Minolta 7s II I replaced the rangefinder on thatβs tiny and about use more but I canβt see the patch well

I think my talker is barely βbetterβ than that. I think itβs 4 zone AF and its slowest speed is like 1/8. When itβs not underexposing and you hit the distance right, itβs pretty nice.
I use the QL17 GIII more now and a Nikon OneTouch 100/RF2 more because of the underexposing
Look forward you your results. I couldnβt find a working one and ended up with a Minolta Talker which is a fun P&S but not manual wind.
This is the nice thing: simple means less fuss and more memories.
Yes, but I meant itβs nicer than the UWS with a pretty good 3 element lens and the nice dual focus setup. I have hear the film transport is much nicer too
Mostly I like B&W because I can develop as I go. With color, I have to do a bunch or rolls before I order chemicals because they donβt have a good shelf life.
Good to know. The A1 price seems good too and itβs a 25mm lens. Buts itβs back to being single speed and apertureβ¦. Then again, at the price point, I canβt complain for something thatβs a lot nicer than the RETO
Iβm still salty about Superia being discontinued so Iβm doing more B&W film now.
I like how these came out. The film feel is where itβs at for me these days
When we were driving in Croatia and Bosnia, I got the idea of what it must have been like. A modern Renault Clio isnβt quite as charming as a classic Italian GT though.
I think they still do a version of the Carrera Panamericana so Iβd enjoy that in some sort of 50s American car with a modern suspension, maybe. Chrysler 300 as a call back to my Grandfather.

I just decided my film doesnβt have to be perfect so might was well be fun or at least look like an old film camera.
I suppose my N8008s doesnβt quite have the film look, but I didnβt take a digital to Croatia, just film.
The A1 looks somewhat interesting. Iβm just so spooked with really good gear that I forget it doesnβt have to be perfect.
I do like my silly Ami 66 though and itβs ultra basic.
The GIII is significantly smaller, but not as small. I was gifted mine so it made it easier.
Iβm never that bothered with being too small, but I have torrent to a point where Iβm not a fan of carrying multiple lenses on trips
Excellent. I love old photos of events like this so we can see how different it was back then yet you can still drive most of these roads.

It seems nice for a wider camera. I wish someone would Mae Anne P&S thatβs is wider but a little better lens and some aperture and shutter speeds.
Or I could take the tiny Maxxum 5 SLR and a 24/2.8 π€·ββοΈ
Makes sense. I often travel with the Canonet QL17 GIII because of weight and the 40/1.7. I have a couple really late film SLRs that are super late and AF but just looks like DSLRs so I go classic.
I have been known to travel with the Nikkor 50/1.2 though
I wish my lineup were this simple. Sometimes choices are a curse. I have a Ricoh XR7 from my great uncle that has been around the world and I barely use it.
Paging @oliverpickard.bsky.social and @jeffbatt.bsky.social since we were just talking about the Targa Florio the other day.
Imagine driving an Alfa around these coastal roads when there were half as many people on the planet
Casually one-handing a testing Ferrari 312 out the windshield while driving around a corner, on film
This is the Giulia 1600 the guy drove. Twin Webers yespls. Honestly, I'd have the Berlinetta over the coupes
