6/ The Post has lost over 375,000 subscribers in just over a year. If 10% of those readers subscribed to The 51st instead, we could hire 10 reporters and five editors, dramatically scaling our coverage of the city at this critical time. 51st.news/signup
The WHITE HOUSE website reads Democrat Shutdown is Imminent With a clock displaying 05:32:29 but the numbers look fuzzy because they are improperly scaled

DC will not stand idle as this administration tries to take our people and our home.

text of a letter to Congress about GAO and CRS funding
signatures on a letter to Congress about GAO and CRS funding
We signed onto this letter to Congress because cutting GAO's funding by 49% is a bad idea, plain and simple. These cuts would reduce Congressβs ability to ensure taxpayer funds are used wisely and to prevent waste, fraud and abuse.
Some good news: the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers reached a landmark tentative agreement with CBS last week.
The workers secured major pay increases, provisions over the use of AI, and other historic wins.
Unions can give us hope even during dark times.
"Closing the office won't actually save the agency much money. NASA already signed a $3 million per year lease on the building through 2031, and they can't sublet the space to outside parties. Those dollars ultimately come from taxpayers. 'It makes no fiscal sense whatsoever,' said Biggs."
It's official: the ballots have been counted and we have officially been recognized as the Washington Post Tech Guild by the NLRB! In a 171-38 BLOWOUT vote, we voiced loudly that our union is important to us. That's 81%!
AFSCME members in Austin, Texas, crafted an AI policy that puts humans in charge. @afscme1624.bsky.social

Gut-wrenching day at work - weβre seeing multiple 25+ year workers, literal experts in their fields who have dedicated their careers to the nation working at the US Army Corps of Engineers, leaving with the βfork in the road.β
Our ballots are out and we are voting YES!
Our friends at @nytguildtech.bsky.social shared their support for our union and why they unionized!
We love seeing this type of solidarity across Guild newsrooms. This is what being in a union is all about!! β
Good luck to the Post Tech Guild as workers receive their ballots this week for their union election!

Did AI kill your job? If so, I want to hear about it.
The response to my story on the AI jobs crisis has been overwhelming. I heard from so many people impacted by AI that it made me want to collect and organize these stories to better understand the phenomenon.

Honestly? More embarrassing for them than that time they crashed the global economy for a day. This is an intentional decision, they should feel bad, and the community shouldn't let them live it down.
