After a difficult week (since last Wednesday evening) I seem to have emerged from my fog of headache and sadness and I can feel my motivation returning.
I tried to be gentle with myself and allow some rest, but still felt the guilt about resting for a lot of the time.

Original recipe for this No-knead bread.
I took a tip from an IG baker and now use a damp flexible bench scraper to move and shape my bread, instead flour.
Other tips - my house is cool, so I turn on my oven for 1 min and raise my dough in there. I bake it in a cast iron Dutch oven.
I'm going to have this with squash and lentil soup for tonight's supper. My partner is having baked beans with his bread.

I met one of my great-grandmothers in 1978 in Finland when I was 6. I don't know her precise birthdate, but it would definitely have been before 1900. My grandmother (her daughter) was born in 1918 and she had a brother several years older.
My maternal grandmother was a server in a restaurant for a while when rehy first arrived in Canada, but mostly was a homemaker.
My paternal grandmother did not work outside the home (she never learned English), but did lots of canning at home and sold that. Her pickles were renouned in town.
It was. My dad, an only child, was 10. They were poor immigrants, and went to poorer after that.
My maternal grandfather worked in pulp mills in Finland and N. Ontario.
My paternal grandfather was a carpenter who also worked other jobs. He worked for a while as a rink attendant, and was flooding the ice by hand with a hose when he was killed by a puck hitting him in the head.

Today's errands playlist started with Miserable by Lit and Bush's Glycerine. Then came Pardon Me by Incubus and now Wild Boys by Duran Duran.
But isn't it supposed to be jarring? Like jarring enough to slow down so it's not jarring?
When I go over a speed bump at the appropriate speed, it's not jarring at all.
Earnest genuine question for people who do this:
Why do folks try to drive around speed bumps, *with the result that only one side of the car still hits the bump and the other doesn't?
* I can understand if you're able to avoid them completely, but they're usually not built like that.
I definitely had a perm in 1988.
