In Lawrence Dagstine’s “A Gene Apart,” Danjarr is a buster, a clone, but most importantly, he is seen as inferior to the Authentics. Danjarr does everything he can to get ahead in his world, but he is always faced with the so-called inferiority of the busters, and the prejudice that accompanies that inferiority. Desperate to prove himself equal to the Authentics, Danjarr knows that he will do anything he has to to get ahead, but what happens when those choices have consequences...possibly devastating consequences. In Damir Salkovic’s “Seniority,” Brian is desperate to get ahead in his company. Every day, Brian sees society decaying and falling apart around him, but he knows that all he needs to do is get ahead in his company, and he can save himself and his family from the deteriorating world around him. But what happens when the fall of society catches up with you, and even your position in a powerful company might not be enough to save you.
