The most indelible Bill Mazeroski moment to me, the one that epitomized who he was, was not the famous home run to win the 1960 Series, but this speech.

After a 29-year wait, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Overcome with emotion, Maz cuts his speech short:

It has taken Homer Simpson a very long time to realize that Philadelphia is his kind of town From the Betsy Ross House to Gritty, the 800th episode of 'The Simpsons' is full of local references. Thanks to writer Christine Nangle who grew up in the city.

It is! www.inquirer.com/entertainmen...

Top right corner. Can't help but wonder if The Simpsons paid subtle tribute to Dan McQuade in tonight's set-in-Philadelphia 800th episode.

He's Not Coming Back Again, Is He? The Steelers' Immortals tasted mortality on Monday night. They were mum about the future. But not nearly mum enough.

For three quarters, it was Steelers football at its absolute best, which looks suspiciously like Eagles football at its absolute worst.

Steelers haven't even been competitive during their seven-game playoff losing streak After Monday night's loss to the Texans, the Steelers have now lost seven consecutive playoff games.

It's not just that the Steelers have lost seven playoff games in a row. They haven't even been competitive in those losses.

The Steelers have now lost seven straight playoff games. They have trailed on every second-half snap in every one of those games.

I feel like there are two kinds of people. Those who look at his post seasom record and say β€œthat’s what happens when you take teams who have no business making the playoffs into the playoffs so consistently” and those who look it at is a sign of his failure to win games that matter.

Really have to credit Mike Tomlin for winning a Super Bowl 17 years ago, getting to another two years later, and going 3-10 in the playoffs ever since.

The Steelers have by far the most expensive defensive roster but they are a bottom 10 unit in several metrics. It’s not just players playing poorly.

They are predictable and it’s simply way easy to make them unravel.

Whatever it takes to signal they don't understand that Mike Tomlin can no longer coach this franchise.

I guess I've been desensitized by so many games where Bortles put up 45 or Baker put up 48 or the Eagles held the ball for the last 10 minutes when the whole world knew they'd run the ball to put much stock in all those 16-10 wins over the Raiders and Titans. It's been trending this way for too long

Teams have schemed around Watt this year. Flacco constantly got the ball out in <2 seconds. They were as blitz-heavy as ever tonight but Love/LaFleur went to the quick game and had an extra TE or a WR pinch the edges in the run game. Tomlin kept blitzing.

The Last Gasp of Steelers Exceptionalism Pittsburgh has long acted like it’s better than its NFL peers. As the Aaron Rodgers era begins, will Mike Tomlin’s team be anything more than average?

Got a new story in The Ringer today.

You have encountered Steelers exceptionalism a million times. It's the belief that the Pittsburgh NFL team is football's one indispensable franchise and somehow different from the other 31.

It's also about to come crashing down www.theringer.com/2025/09/02/n...
