Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣 'writes like you writes'
I do that and a lot more when I'm writing and am having intense feelings or thoughts about the topic. I swallow crucial bits of sentences, miss 'not' and make the text give the complete opposite meaning of what I intended. 😅
That got muddled with social media, wanting to publish, etc., Valid pursuits, but they suck the joy out if we don't keep an eye on what's important - improving the craft and enjoying doing it.
Interactions like this rekindle and reorient me in a humble and unhurried direction w.r.t haikai 🙏
True! Your comment here now reminded me of my initial months of reading and writing haiku (not the internet version we get introduced to first) after something just clicked about 'the experience of reading a haiku'. And the amazement of reading my own and thinking, wow, my haiku works!
i also write on driftwood and autumn leaves

Thank you so much!!! 🙏
Sankara @coffeeandhaiku.bsky.social writes wonderfully sensitive haiku, and draws incredible illustrations. Check out his blog and follow!

Thank you so much, Alan!! 🙂
Spurred from a recent interaction with @thehaikutec.bsky.social about posting unpublished works, and partly taking cue from the release of his new #haiku collection 'modŏ', I went & finished a #haiga micro-chapbook I abandoned last year.

A new place and viewing experience for my haiga chapbook 'the fog that lifts mountains' - originally posted on my Instagram account in December 2023.

'my haiku on display for my own viewing' is a pitch that sings in my ears because I'm sure to find some encouragement and motivation from them, esp. might help with self-doubt and imposter syndrome, given I usually write in bouts over the span of a year and always feel like a beginner. 😅
On that note, do you have any stories of people reaching out to you on the web after they found a pebble with your poem? 😁
I love your poems on pebbles! So creative and definitely makes up for some pleasant surprises to countless people! 🙂
I've slowly come to realize this is what I need to do. So recently I setup my own website coffeeandhaiku.in, and I am forcing myself to share more unpublished poetry over there and on BlueSky without always trying to get things published.
Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂
I would love to switch to a physical medium for writing and storing haiku but I'm so effing disorganized, I misplace everything!
I did buy flashcards to do this but haven't started it as I'm afraid to. Do you write your poems on a physical paper, along with some digital notes app?
or pop it on a pebble and leave it somewhere ~ l do that at the beach

Here I was, writing #haiku after haiku about the water hyacinths I first encountered in Kerala and immediately fell in love with. I now learn that they're considered 'invasive'.

The high of realising you've written a satisfying #haiku but immediately wanting validation for it through a publication in some haiku journal - which takes time. So the immediacy of the success of writing a good haiku (according to my subjective tastes) disappears.
Note to self: need to change.
But of course, I rarely write tanka. I've had to resort to 5 lines because I couldn't quite successfully write a haiku capturing everything I wanted - 'chronic cold' and 'left nostril' were must haves.
I could've written a gembun perhaps.
