Heroposting while my mind melts prepping for TokenCon! The Bravo Batallion are badass bikers who take the offensive, getting in Monsters' faces and helping others do the same. General Cameron Henri II makes vehicles cheaper, and Buckshot Benji Black can sit a Monster right on its ass 💪😤

It's Friday so we're Heroposting! Monster Wasteland has four factions, one of which is the Vernese Rangers. They're shady characters and keen navigators who know the Wasteland by heart. The Vernese heroes are Espen Nightcloak and Ani Treestrider, who help the factions move around the map unseen 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️

The little lightning bolt tokens were going to be the knocked down tokens, but we didn't end up playing 2v2 games so they weren't necessary (yet)

Playing games from the Rules Of Carnage Winter Green Jam. First was GOBSMACKED, a minifig game of goblin rasslin' by @alexeivella.bsky.social it was a hilarious time. The goblins Puke and Puke 2 did some bashin' and smashin', leapt from pillars, and called in crowd favors for a Puke 2 victory!

Some shots from yesterday's playtest! We've got a pretty crowded mid-game map going on, lots of Settlements giving us nice synergy, but also lots of Monsters. Can't wait to open up digital playtesting again once I've imported the simplified map cutouts to TTS 😀

Had a delightful comment when playtesting today: "it always feels like we have choices and it never felt like any one of us was getting left behind or ignored."

Every time there's a note about the game making everyone feel equal I shed a little happy tear 🥲

Being new to the space, I don't know a ton of board/ttrpg creators and the "recommended features" on this site is kind of meh.

Took a break to play LotR: Duel for Middle Earth.

All I've heard is "it's Seven Wonders Duel but better" and it's an inevitable comparison. I greatly preferred the landmark system, and the ring tracker was a fun addition. I'll probably write a blog about it bc I have Thoughts™️. Either way play it!

Today we've got the Deep Dweller, a huge monster that spawns in aquatic spaces and swims around the map when it can't find anything to hunt.

I can't remember the exact artist prompt, but @rollinkunz.itch.io gave it the exact right amount of mouths.

The Hatethrob has become the face of Monster Wasteland, and he's a lil huge guy that pushes your units away, even when he's knocked down! The direction for this one was "a squat, writhing mass of limbs and teeth" 😬

Maps, maps, maps! Monster Wasteland's hex map is divided into 8 sections, which each have different types of terrain that yield different raw materials. There are example layouts in the rulebook, but the map can be assembled however you want. My new goal is to play it in a straight line.

Was going to post today but ended up going to Empire Board Game Library in ABQ for Valentine's games. Finally got my hands on Sagrada from @floodgategames.bsky.social and boy is it a delightful dice drafter both to look at and play. Happy Friday/Saturday yall.

I'll be featuring different aspects of the game over the coming days, including the modular map, Factions and Heroes, the Monsters, and more. Hooray for content!
