This is my 80th BOOK TALK. It reviews Tama Janowtitz's great book, A Certain Age. A wonderful book, which you will enjoy. Included is a list of my favorite Tama Janowitz books, including SLAVES OF NEW YORK, from 1987.

These photos, to be featured in the eBook of my 6th published book, "We Learned to Live in the Castle: Stories," back when I was jail-bait and traversing life in the 1980s. Fun, troubling times though they were, they made me who I am today and for that I am grateful.
My 6th book, "We Learned to Live in the Castle: Stories," is now available for purchase, with Amazon and at Barnes & Noble booksellers. The book was blurbed by NY writer, Tama Janowitz, & NY writer, Hilma Wolitzer. I'm proud of it. 15 personal essays on my life.

Daniel "GOD" Koller has hurt another animal. If you care about your dogs or cats, do not take them to The Companion Pet Clinic, located at 2454 SE Burnside Rd Gresham, Oregon, 97080. He is a sadist.
The Holiday Cheer book sale, 12-7-2025, at the Oregon Historical Society was such a blast. Don and I sold lots of the books by Oregon Greystone Press that we published this past year and several from years prior. Such a fun event! Marilyn Deutsch was there, and Anne Jaeger, and many others!
I am that unusual author, who regularly reads books and posts reviews on Goodreads. Some of my recent reads have been Lidia Yuknavitch's A-MAY-ZING book, "Reading the Waves," along with Acceptance, by Emi Nietfeld, and several others. Here is my Goodreads page...

When I can afford it, I'm going to make a donation to this shelter. I'm so impressed with what you do. And thank you. We have a crisis going on nationally, since covid thew the world into a tailspin...
Oh poor baby. Thank you SOOO much for saving him. Such a darling baby....
The Goodreads Librarians are so cool. This is the third BIO that I've written for writer friends of mine who have passed on. The first was Jason de Salvo, then my dear friend JD Chandler, and now my friend Tom Hansen. RIP Tom, you are still so very missed. www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
Outside seating in front of restaurants, placed literally IN the gutter have never been safe. They are ticking time bombs. A vehicle, which weighs several tons will ALWAYS win over a clumsily built wood & plastic structure. This was the correct & intelligent thing to do. It's called COMMON SENSE. :)
Capricorn sun, Gemini moon, Aries ascendant/rising. My first husband was an astrologer. I learned a lot. :)
Every day.
Oh no. God this makes me so angry and sad. That poor little baby. It's a death sentence when people dump small dogs. They don't have the survival instincts and situational awareness of bigger dogs. That poor little thing. Damn.
This will be my 7th book. My life story basically. Thank you for asking. It's been almost ten years I've been working over these essays. A lot of work, sweat and tears...
And even if she is pardoned. She will never be safe. There will be a price on her head, because of what she MIGHT do, and how she MIGHT talk. Because of what she DOES know. The names. The names of all those men. Hope she knows that.
If those are real contacts... Lord, can you imagine the pain? That was before Talkies, if I'm correct. Good grief...

This looks really good. I also was in foster care, but here in the US. Some things are universal, aren't they? We have that in common. My next book details, in one long essay, my experiences in 1983, when I was 17. "The Year I was Jail-bait." I will order your book.
This is from Marilyn Deutsch
If you are a Portlander, you will recognize the streets where Theresa lived and that makes these stories all the more difficult to read, because these streets are your streets too, the streets we all call home.

My celebrated story, will now be a Novella, The Convalescent Home in the Doug Fir Wood, in eBook form. It can be read by purchasing my book of short stories, "Burnside Field Lizard and Selected Stories," and is the final story in the book.

I am hard at work on my SECOND restaurant history book. My first one is "Lost Restaurants of Portland, Oregon," 2022. My next restaurant history book is called "A Second Helping: Revisiting Portland's Lost Restaurants." What do you think of that Portland? It should be fun, like the last one was! :)
