Finished staining the Medieval Toppa & reduced the board to from 8x8 (top) to 7.5x7.5 (bottom). Not a huge difference but feels more proportional to me. I want to add some grooves to the board for accurate chip placement but overall not bad. #gamedesign #tabletopgame
Thanks! It’ll definitely be the premium option once all the pieces are made from walnut etc, and not stained pine.
The actual boards and stacking pieces would be walnut? Maybe Cherry for the chips? I wouldn’t be staining everything.
The pieces all seem large and heavy enough not to fly off the board when rotating.
Still need to stamp some circles in a 3x3 grid for accurate chip placement and thinking about having the rules printed on fabric.
I finally figured out how to do a “Medieval” version of Toppa. I’ve wanted to table at some Renn fairies in the future but bringing 3d and modern box printing didn’t seem appropriate. Rules stay the same, runes replacing the different color chips. #tabletopgames #gamedesign
This game has already gone through some quick iterations! From blocks to cards to 3d printed runes.
Will most likely make the runes 2 color when and if it works out as a playable game.

Sometimes you get lucky and it's a good grouping of dots and easy to get single digits. Today was not one of those days, lol.
I’m pretty basic with how I think about my 3d designs. Mostly extruding flat layers into 3d. Part of that is how I get things to look 3d with only a one color printer but it’s also just how my brain works after 5 years of making things with a laser cutter, lol.

Playing around today with 3d text. This is also a font I designed for myself a while ago too.
Not sure what I’ll do with it yet, maybe add some rings to the back for a “brass knuckle” kind of thing?

The cards shown would be a 2-player game. I’m thinking I’d prefer a 2-4 player game. Which would double the card count but I like the flexibility.
Got in my Toppa cards in for the “Stacks” card version of Toppa. Still need to play test.
The swapping of boards is such a big part of the tabletop version, the challenge will be in how to incorporate a similar mechanic into the card game. #tabletop #cardgame
