An excellent piece on the White Paper from Cassie. Hopefully, we can agree on what inclusion means and how to achieve it.

β€œHigh standards and inclusion are two sides of the same coin.”

After reading the white paper carefully and discussing it during a SENCo forum this week, I’ve written on the shift in language, and what some of this might mean for schools in practice.

Session 1 @researchedbrum.bsky.social

I am speaking on why leaders need a leadership framework for their development in their context and how we might go about doing this. The impact of leaders’ work on staff wellbeing, culture and results for students is too important to be left to chance.

Tomorrow I'll be talking @researchedbrum.bsky.social on one of my minor obsessions: Why sometimes people change and other times they don't. I think it's a big reason why most PD fails.

Isn’t that the same as internal isolation? They are excluded but are on site in the inclusion hub.

Are we just going to start putting the word β€˜inclusive’ in front of everything now? Inclusive teaching. Inclusive pastoral practices. Inclusive detentions. The last one is mine πŸ˜‚

You knew he was a racist. And a misogynist. And a liar. And a wannabe dictator. And a scam artist. And that there were umpteen accusation against him of sexual misconduct.

You didn’t just vote for him despite all this. You voted for him precisely because of all this.

I'm gonna keep banging this drum:

AI is a useful tool for an expert, it can provide shortcuts and efficiencies in the same way as many other tech tools do.

AI is a massive problem for anyone inexpert, because it makes stuff up. If you lack expertise you just can't tell how good the output is.

Old? Yes. Great? No.

We got way better results last summer. We just need to get some of the 0% attendance Y11 students into school and we will be truly great.

I find effective spacing in the curriculum is one of the most challenging for subject leaders and schools.

It's genuinely very good; very short and very useful. It's had a big influence in how I plan curriculum.
