an advert for a session at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) conference. Text reads: "BG3.36 Vegetation Functional Responses to Global Change: Above- and Belowground Processes Under Stress. As ecosystems face increasing climate stressors, understanding how vegetation responds above- and below-ground and how these compartments interact, is key to predicting future carbon, water and nutrient cycles. This session explores vegetation responses to variable environments and stresses, from traits and plasticity to ecosystem resistance and resilience - across scals and methods, including experimetns, field studies, remote sensing and modelling. Contributions from early-career researchers and novel ideas are especially welcome.". There is an EDI logo and an EGU26 logo. The background is a stand of trees, some going yellow as they suffer under drought.
Interested in how plants work under global change and stress? We're running a EGU session again. We fiddle with the title every year but try and stay friendly. We welcome studies at lots of different scales and methods. Hopefully see you at #EGU26 meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU26/sessio...
The selected candidates will work with experts in phenology and ecology, including Dr. Yunpeng Luo, Prof. Arthur Gessler, Dr. Constatine Zohner. The Ph.D student will work at WSL, and he/she will register in ETH Zurich, within a supportive and international environment. Please help to spread!
This project will combine #experiments, #multi-site #observations to understand leaf senescence and its drivers, focusing on source-sink relationships. The unveiled mechanisms will be integrated into #vegetation #models to better quantify carbon uptake. Ph.D. will work at #WSL and register in #ETH.

Two important updates for our session: 1) wonderful "vegetation response examples" (Background images) updated by Camille Abadie and 2) wonderful keynote speaker in our session: Arthur Gessler @arthurobuntspecht.bsky.social . Very looking forward πππ₯:

I'm hiring! 2+2 year postdoc position on forecasting plant defence and resilience to pathogens.
Why are some plants better at defending themselves and can we model it? What role does the environment play? And how can we use all the data we have?
Deadline 13/01.

An advert for the EGU session 'Vegetational Functional Responses to Global Change Across Multiple Methods and Scales'.The background picture is a mixed coniferous forest and the EGU 2025 logo and EDI log are displayed prominently. The text reads: As the terrestrial biosphere moves into states without a present climate analogue, we need mechanistic understanding of ecosystem processes and their linkages with ecosystem function. This session brings togther scientists interested in advancing our fundamental understanding of ecosystem processes. We welcome studies on a range of scales, from greenhouse and mesocosm experiments to large field manipulative experiments, remote sensing studies, and modelling. We encourage contributions of novel ideas and hypotheses in particular those from early stage researchers and hope this session can create an environment where such ideas can be discussed freely.
we're back again with our EGU session on vegetation responses to global change, in Vienna next year at #EGU25! We like submissions at different scales. Hope to see you there (with an abstract submitted π) meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU25/sessio...
