In our early days my late husband quoted some rude sounding TBL lines so often without realizing I hadn’t seen it till I was about to dump him, lol, and he had to go buy the DVD at Virgin, then sit next to me down to watch it in one of the New Yorker’s offices to convince me not to. 😂
Geraldine Page's character fully deserves what Angela Lansbury's character demands, lol. A nice little movie, otherwise! One of my favorite "old maid" stories.

Maybe I just don't like that look overall in all the actresses of the time. It's borderline kabuki.
I just don't understand what they did to her face. I understand not wanting to look "hot" to avoid frivolous roles, but I think for an actor, so much artifice interferes with and distracts from her facial expression. Claudette Colbert verges on that, too, in her later roles, but somehow manages.
She COULD be sexy but somewhere along the line someone decided she should look like a Lego mom
