It's the height of injustice that after getting my blood stolen, running four hours of errands, and weeding for an hour, I STILL have to do my regular work.
If like. Idk. Half a million of you could buy one book each, I could take a nap now instead. That'd be nice. Can we get that done? ๐

The cover of the book "Blade of the Crown" by author Cara N. Delaney. The background is the ocean, choppy with waves. The sky is grey and dark blue with storm clouds. Silver ornaments decorate the corners and the top and bottom edges. In the foreground is a golden crown in a classic shape. A slender sword with an ornamental cross guard goes through it vertically. The title is written in a silver, slightly translucent font, with one point of the crown filling the "A" of "blade". The author's name is in white at the bottom.

I like this method though. It allows for more detail, and a lot of the bits I'd normally add in while writing the actual draft are already making it into the outline so I can fiddle with pacing, setup and payoff, that sort of thing. Takes longer, but probably saves time editing, so it's a wash?

I've gone back to my older style of outlining for the trilogy (prose synopsis instead of scene-by-scene in bullet points), and uhh, you can really tell it's been a while. I keep double-entering between paragraphs, and I have to remind myself to use full sentences ๐

Whedon being revealed as a creep just messed with so many fandoms, especially because he's the kind of guy who puts his very noticeable fingerprints all over his projects.
At this point I just kind of expect any high-profile dudes to be kind of not great, but I really wish I didn't have to.

The scammers are relentless.
Please understand, no book club is EVER going to proactively seek you out. It is natural to hope so but that is not how the world works.
They are NOT looking through millions of new books searching for your novel when they haven't even read Northanger Abbey yet

Postwoman Jane Preston
โHow is it that you live, and what is it you do?โ
That quote from William Wordsworth was brought to mind when I saw this photo of postwoman Jane Preston. She served Cockerham, Lancashire for 50 years until her death in 1944.

Wonderful breakdown!!! The scariest part of these misrepresented stats is that they drive they idea that these beliefs are common and normal, which itself makes people more likely to align with them!!! It's a blight on every journalist who reported this uncritically

There should have been a follow-up question: If you do want kids, do you also want to do the work that comes with having kids?
Because of those 57% of dudes, a whooole lot of them very likely feel pretty "Ehhhh?" about that second question.

-vs complete edition, where King explains - very briefly - why he made the initial cuts, and why he added certain things back in but not others. Insightful stuff, especially now that I publish my own work.
Also, Stephen? What kind of bizarre version of Hansel and Gretel did you read as a child?! oO
