That woman doesnβt have a shred of dignity.

Three cheers for my tutoring student, who worked super hard and earned every bit of her superb scores today on the GRE!
Yes! I saw it, I think on Criterion Channel.
Next up is DRUGSTORE COWBOY, for the Sunday discussion group.
Why not? Itβs a miserable weather day outside.
Yes, both! The only Best Picture nominee I havenβt seen yet is F1. Going to see it tomorrow in a screening room.
Loved Blue Moon. Frankenstein was not for me, despite starring some of my favorite actors. If youβve liked Del Toro before, youβll probably like it.
Screening Scorseseβs THE DEPARTED for my little local film group this afternoon. Iβve seen it before, but this is my first time on a big screen.
What a cast!!!

You can enjoy still. Let me know what you think--including how dated it might seem. It did come out almost 50 years ago!
It's one of my favorite movies, although at this point it probably seems rather quaint. I think I saw it in theaters four or five times when it first came out, and then again another half dozen times over the years.
It's available on Kanopy and Tubi in the US. Lots of catchy music.
Then that's why it was on the list! Thanks.
I put the others on, too (except Ghostlight, which I saw in a theater and loved).
Cover of DVD of the 1977 film Outrageous! starring Craig Russell and Hollis McLaren.
This film needs a DVD re-issue!

For those of you not old enough to qualify for Medicare, you may not realize that it isn't free. It's a bargain, but it isn't free.
2026 annual cost per person is $2,434.80. That's $202.90 a month.
As a practitioner of an art form very few people care about, I kinda take Chalametβs (admittedly clumsily made) point. For the first time in a century itβs possible to envision feature-length film eventually becoming a niche art form, and working in niche art forms can be demoralizing as hell.
I donβt remember why I put it on my JustWatch wishlist, but that shows the power of having one.
Iβm going to show this film to my little local film club. All of us are parents of adults.
Even if you haven't yet seen THE BRIDE!, you know it's full of references to other films.
I haven't yet seen anyone mention the GOODFELLAS Copacabana long shot. Look for it!

I'd be interested in hearing more about your father, if you care to share it here (whenever it feels right for you).
I hope he is recognized there, but you should brace yourself for him not to be included.
A close relative of my husband was ignored last year, despite being a voting member of the Academy and the screenwriter for two major films (ones people still see and discuss). You'd recognize his name.
Just watched A LITTLE PRAYER (it's on Amazon Prime and Kanopy). Lovely, but also difficult and gut-wrenching--especially as a parent of adults.

SERLING, Jonah Tulisβ new feature documentary, is premiering at SXSW next week! The film was produced alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Appian Way, in collaboration with Verdi Productions and the Rod Serling Estate. schedule.sxsw.com/2026/films/2...
Loved it! Over the top and full of references for movie fans.
Iβm glad I recently (maybe a year ago) saw the original two James Whale films. Lots of other references outside of those films.
Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Here are my #LastFourWatched
Two in theaters, both of which I recommend.
Except for MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN (which is on Kino Film Collection), these are all Oscar-nominated films that are unavailable to stream on any subscription services.

Excellent! Let's (closer to Dec. 10) try to figure out how to say "hi"
and thanks for the repost. I hope others do the same--not for me, but for the public service.
I'll update the thread if/when others are added.
I think that's the first place I saw them. We got there early and my son raced through the crowd to snag us a couple seats up in a balcony, since I told him I wouldn't stand for a full concert. That must have been over 20 years ago.
I'm thrilled they'll be at Carnegie Hall. They deserve it!

@stephenberg2.bsky.social Re your profile, have you heard this song from @themountaingoats.bsky.social?
(if you haven't heard it, it's from the album "Beat the Champ" with all the songs about professional wrestling)
youtu.be/cxce7Ggzb7M?...
I am totally psyched to be seeing @themountaingoats.bsky.social at Carnegie Hall on December 10! Going with my husband, son, and daughter-in-law and sitting in a first-tier box!
