One of the things that really gets me about this policy is that it doesn’t have the impact its supporters seem to think. It don’t affect numbers arriving but it does actively harm integration of those who come. It’s just a really, really bad policy. There’s no case for it being “necessary” at all.
I think the only to worry about would be the health of her feet.
Gas prices jumped again this morning and are on track to double - a stark reminder of our exposure to fossil fuel volatility.
The real solution isn’t more drilling, but moving away from combustion: electrify, use renewable power, and boost energy efficiency.

We need to reverse the slow down in the energy transition and accelerate renewable deployment for cheap, reliable baseload power.

Great to see the Conservatives wanting to reform student loans. Would like to see an account for Osborne replacing maintenance grants with loans in 2015. This has left poorer students with bigger debts vs richer ones for a whole decade, compounding inequality between rich and poor. It’s scandalous.
