Droming On - Moviedrome Year One I'm going to plough throw both the Alex Cox and Mark Cousins eras. So let's start at the very beginning...

I'm thrilled to hear that the BFI's staging a Moviedrome season next July. So thrilled, in fact, that I've changed the settings of all my Substack Moviedrome pieces to FREE. Share both pieces of good news with all your friends!

The cover of my novel THE EX: a black & white photograph of a well-groomed woman with a wine glass. She's gazing intently into the lens, and lit from below; the effect is a bit spooky. Yet elegant.

A Life Near Film: Lighting Up With David Hemmings Meeting 'Mr Sixties' at a studio in Sydney remains a highlight of what I continue to insist on calling a career.

Remembering David Hemmings who died on this day in 2003. I met him on the set of The Night We Called It A Day and he didn't disappoint. Here's the link to the only interview I've conducted which began with the subject asking 'Does your mum know you're out?!' richardluck.substack.com/p/a-life-nea...

One of Marshall Brickman's lesser known works. Worth a look.

I love the Charlie Brown Christmas special. There's an eerie loneliness that hangs over the whole thing. The music, Charlie Brown's depression, the dying little tree, the flatness of the children's voices, the inevitability of death. A Christmas masterpiece.
