Lots to choose from in 1986, but this one signaled the end of the Bronze Age and remains one of my favorite Superman stories.

I feel like Coppola was trying to make an old-Old Hollywood film with Dracula, between the use of vintage cameras and old-style visual effects, and encouraging really over the top performances from the cast.

A drawing of The Watcher, a bald man with high collar and cosmic crackles in his mind. The artist is Jack Kirby. Below that is a quote by Kirby which reads βI had a guy die on me once, during the war, and he looked up at me and he said βWhat the hell happened? What happened?β And here I was, just a schmo from the East Side of New York City, yβknow, and how do you answer the guy? I told him, βYou happened.β See? And that was real. It got me to think how valuable human beings are; and at that moment I discovered my own humanity. In that moment, I discovered everybody elseβs.β

Absolutely fantastic, and a must for any art library, certainly any comic art library, HOW COMICS WERE MADE: A VISUAL HISTORY FROM THE DRAWING BOARD TO THE PRINTED PAGE. Very impressed (I got mine via kickstarter). glog.glennf.com/hcwm...

A persistent theme in Charles Burns' work is the retreat into a world that does not exist. At Burns' best, he is raw, pained, and profoundly human; at its weakest, it seems that 'human' is precisely what he is afraid to be. My latest, and by far my longest piece, for TCJ: www.tcj.com/shall-i-proj...

The cover of Gou Tanabe's manga adaptation of The Shadow Over Innsmouth by HP Lovecraft. A fishman wears a crown in a black and white illustration.
Oh shit! Gou Tanabe has another volume of HP Lovecraft manga adaptations coming out in November! His adaptation of Mountains of Madness is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Get hip to this now.
I do think it's kind of awesome that he fed DC a poison pill like that though. It seems like something Alan Moore might do with Watchmen at this point if he could.
And at some point itβll include a VR headset and some sort of tactile sensors and they can have their fully immersive Caprica-style death orgies or whatever.
It's porn. They want AI-generated porn on-demand for all their Rule 34 kinks. Probably with ZS-style production values.
