Heh, yes. In our case the only proper path tracing in the entire scene was that in the eye shader. Everything else was traditional forward GGX-style PBR. It was affordable given eyes could only ever be a small percentage of total fragments shaded.

(This was ten years ago, before the rise of RTX.)
