In the paper, we benchmark these codes against hyperbolic Floquet codes as well as our initial constructions, and find state-of-the-art parameters and logical error rates.
I hope you enjoy reading about them!

move diagonally through spacetimeβlike a stairway.
This observation, combined with some ZX-calculus wizardry, led to a new family of codes that we call "Stairway Codes."

Our early attempts were not good enough, until Fernando noticed something important. By using the locality of BB codes in higher dimensions (six+time, in our case), we can identify worldlines that do not follow the original time direction, but instead...
which achieve very good distances and rates with relatively small block sizes.
So we thought: maybe we can build one ourselves.
When we started looking for high-rate Floquet codes, we found that there are surprisingly few examples in the literature. In particular, there was nothing comparable to the static bivariate bicycle (BB) codes,

Very proud of this new preprint on arXiv, co-authored with #AlexRetzker and #FernandoPastawski.
We introduce a new family of quantum codes that can be implemented entirely with two-qubit parity measurements, achieving high rates and large distances.

a very impressive result!
Also, we need to understand how to create this kind of connectivity with superconducting qubit (since they assume 1usec QEC round)
Very cool!
That's a very cool result. Thank you for sharing.
Do you think that hardware platforms will be able to achiveve a bias of 2e6?
Can you elaborate on the first point? Are you talking about physical or logical error rates?
Thank you for reading!
That is true, just took it as an easy example. The code should work for any stim circuit.
I have tested it with other circuits as well :)
Wrote a (technical) blog post about finding the circuit-level distance of a quantum error correction code using integer linear programming, repo included.
Let me know if you find this helpful!

Cool
Is the generator weight is the same as the stabilizer weight?
Tried it a few months ago, works great, thanks!
Oh! I have one:

DETECTORs go brrrr......

Remember, remember the 5th of September, the "cultivate with fold-transversal S" publication plot.
Exciting day for magic state generation!
I'm taking a quick break from changing diapers to let you all know we updated our Cultivation paper with new protocols!
