I really loved that last line - something like “it’s happening somewhere, it’s just not happening to me”. So opposite of “back in my day” folks!

I don’t know if you watched this when it came out but I really enjoyed it when it popped up on my feed the other night youtu.be/1WRVnR3wEWY?...
Fugazi “flat” is not the same as everyone else’s “flat” though eh?!
Design Systems are the savings and investments to product’s daily gambles
Tokens are to variables, what poetry is to words.
Thank you, that’s my work done for today.
A pop up with - HINT You have paid. Have a nice trip!
A fast follow. Thanks for letting me know this was a hint.

I’m very sorry I forgot to fill this out, but I was very busy automating everything on the new system I’m working on.
A git commit history with 2 commits. “Remove silly horse” and “remove references to big old bank”
I think you can probably guess.
I think I handled the website updates well.
My previous employer just sent me a copyright infringement notice from their law firm because I…
Put their logo on my portfolio website.
That’s about the lamest thing I’ve ever heard.
Conceptually, inside out for me, then the current outline is the inner and the new declaration is an extra line.
Very pleased about this!
I don’t think my brain was switched on when I asked this, I was thinking I was applying it to the global frame for all variants.
I was literally adding a “visually hidden” prop to an element so the text could still be defined, even though it wasn’t visible in Figma when your blog popped up!
This is a great idea. Sorry if I am missing something so obvious it hurts but how do you add a layer retrospectively to a component with variants as anything you put in the frame will be a variant?
This is a good point, I spoke to generally.
I am really taking about 8 hours a day, 5 days a week users vs filling a form in every 6 months.
Yep I do agree with that framing in general, good point. Although not the case in this product as it mainly has that split
I actually didn’t mean this as a negative. I can justify it.
Interestingly a form state I was not considering was “required right now” + “required before this date” to support someone filling in essentials while speaking to someone.
Very interesting challenges!
Yesterday I made a Label that could use either * or (optional) and be placed above or to the side.
This would have previously made me be sick in my own mouth.
I have spent a years pushing back at the idea of the needs of a DS for a really heavy admin interface not being that different. But I think I was wrong.
The biggest thing to consider is how you don’t let those needs affect public facing interfaces, not that they shouldn’t be different.
Nice, funnily enough I have drafted the idea of a talk on this very subject. I was thinking along the same audio lines - guitar pedals. E.g. turn up the grit
Really nice to see this expressed as those 3 layers!
Well… I believe the argument would be to remove unnecessary dependency management if you only had one product… and to be able to roll out changes simultaneously.
But this can still be “separate” while being in the same repo.
Yep this is trained staff using it 8 hours a day scenario… and a lot them doing so for 5-10 years!
This is a bit more - how can I say… like a cockpit of a plane
There is a mixture of design for practitioner and patient.
I think more than anything I’ve worked on before there would actually be different design / behaviour / layout principles depending on which side you’re on.
The question is, can one system serve both?
First day at new job complete!
I’m still a design lead for design systems but I’m working on something completely different -
Software for dental practices!

Today I walked up the iconic hill from the 70s Hovis advert. Lovely little place.
An office set up surrounded buy guitars, vinyl records, keyboards and a dart board. There are various other items around the room - the owner must be a right nerd
Little bit more progress every day while still keeping it low budget
In both directions for me. I think as much about bad decisions or reactions I had from a random Tuesday a decade ago while holding on to other people’s stuff that was directed towards me too. I am hoping it’s the opposite of unhinged.
Nice, not seen that… been blocked from doing any CSS at work for 4 years so I need to catch up!
This has something to do with page length in Safari iOS when using the URL bar at the top. I can’t tell you the amount of buttons that run away when I try and interact with them, but usually not on public services
