Kangaroo court.
Kangaroo court.
Itβs horrific! We finally figure out where he is and then he is swept off somewhere else.
Within this last week I had a detained client transferred from WA to TX to LA, to a different facility in LA.
No transfer notices from ICE, detainee locator not updated, DHS not responding to inquiries because of the shut down and Geo not able to confirm presence in their facilities.
Good to see Andy Ogles getting pilloried for his bigotry, but heβs also riding Randy Fineβs coattails. As Iβve been monitoring developments in online Islamophobia over the past ~16 months, there appears to be a disturbing coalescence around caps to βdenaturalize and deportβ Muslim-Americans
round sourdough loaf of bread on a cooling rack on the counter.
2 little pancakes on a blue plate. They are mini sized with butter a syrup.
Sourdough afternoon. π₯
And some tiny pancakes I made with extra starter.
Sigh. Transferring people and not timely updating the ICE detainee locator or telling family or lawyers where they are has long been a tactic of enforced disappearance used by DHS to hinder the filing of habeas petitions to defend rights. This is just one recent example: apple.news/AhOtuCu2FTby...
We are not okay as a people.
Horrible.
This is what they have been doing to immigrants all along too.
Disappearing them from facility to facility, across states with a 24 hour or more delay in tracking and notice.
Good.
CAIR is not a terrorist organization. DeSantis however is a liar and a deeply cynical jerk. Does he sincerely believe anything? Only that he wants power.
Anyone willing to Do Islamophobia for power should never get it. Same with homophobia, transphobia, etc.
screenshot of Footnote 1 in Urias-Orellana v. Bondi, reading as follows: "Because petitioners have not challenged the standard of persecution that the agency appliedβi.e., that death threats are sufficient to establish past persecution only when they are so menacing as to cause significant actual suffering or harm, see App. to Pet. for Cert. 31aβwe consider only the appropriate standard of review for the agencyβs application of that standard to the facts. We note the Solicitor General agrees with petitioners that βpurely legal questions about the appropriate standardβ of persecution are subject to de novo review. Brief for Respondent 40; see Tr. of Oral Arg. 48."
the opinion does seem to offer a tip in a footnote: next time, challenge the Board of Immigration Appeals' standard itself--*not the federal courts' standard for evaluating how BIA applied *their standard
that may help other families in the future, but I'm sad bc I doubt it'll help this family now
Kid asked for one for her birthday.
I have an old one perpetually stuck in 2006, full of The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and Regina Spektor and she obsessed.
Rehearing denied, stay lifted, habeas moot. There is nothing else to try.
Deportations are absolutely crushing.
Aww volcano!
The mountain is out!
There is far too much pressure to live your best life these days. Leave me alone and let me live my most middling life in peace, with the colourful miscellany of highs and lows that naturally entails.
NEW: We obtained 911 audio from the Texas detention center housing hundreds of immigrant kids and their parents.
Since mid-September, EMS crews have been dispatched to Dilley at least 11 times to treat children in medical distress.
Burning fevers. Low oxygen. Seizures. A broken leg.

Also very anti-capitalist of this admin, now that I think about it. Clearly the racism is a stronger motivator than the desire to make profit off peoples suffering.
Okay this is particularly awful.
Is it even worth writing public comments these days? www.federalregister.gov/documents/20...
Thatβs what happened in my house. Young siblingβs interest put an immediate end to her big sisterβs TS phase.
I want her to skate to Bjork in the swan dress next!
Both are excellent all the same!
Ooo! Did you make both?
As you should be. There is no reason for, * waives hand vaguely around, all this.
Right?! Why was this week the worst?
Trying to make sure you get what kind of βhunkβ they mean.
Thatβs not the same guy?
Feb. 19 marks the Day of Remembrance, honoring those incarcerated under Executive Order 9066.
On Feb. 21, events in Puyallup and Tacoma will connect that history to today's ICE detentions β including flights from Boeing Field.
