The Urban Institute’s Education Data Portal offers users the ability to view data endpoints and select summary endpoints directly in their web browser. Users can access this application programming interface (API) by directly hitting a URL endpoint or by using Stata or R. All data are returned in JSON format and can be viewed directly in a web browser.

The IPEDs data are notoriously unpleasant to download. Urban Institute put together a portal to help.

But, 2023 data aren't available through Urban yet. And, use the API at your own risk.

Education Department to reduce staff by half Ahead of the announcement, the department told staff that DC offices would be closed on Wednesday and reopen Thursday for “security reasons.”

New report: Too many communities lack broad-access colleges A new report found that millions of Americans don’t have any colleges with high acceptance rates nearby, or they have only one, causing geographic disparities in college access.

A recent report suggests tuition discounts for nearby out-of-state students to expand college access. @ceciliaorphan.bsky.social says that broad-access institutions often do much more for their communities than confer degrees.
