LLMs are nothing more than models of the distribution of the word forms in their training data, with weights modified by post-training to produce somewhat different distributions. Unless your use case requires a model of a distribution of word forms in text, indeed, they suck and aren't useful.

Generative AI: Not Even Once
Here's the thing about using AI for lit reviews ... If you've actually read the scholarship, writing the lit review yourself isn't that taxing. But what's gonna happen is folks will use AI to save themselves having to *read* the scholarship, which will then make the rest of their article trash.

The very existence of commercially available glasses with Internet-connected cameras sold by Meta, a company built entirely on hiding the costs of services in negative privacy externalities, is an indictment of U.S. tech law and policy. This is an unfixable product from a fundamentally bad company.
