This why I’ve become a bit of a landmark status hater. It always seems that those who want it the most are never willing to put in the money or effort to maintain the building they are trying to save.

Thanks to FOIA requests, 9 previously unknown ICE hold rooms were found to exist in Colorado. The rules are that detainees aren't supposed to be held for more than 12 hours, but records show people were there for weeks... without beds or toilets.

Why is it always presumed that a landlord cannot be asked to weather a bit of a bumpy ride for a short period, but tenants must do everything right or face the consequences? If a landlord can't handle a limited amount of arrears, they shouldn't be in business.

Well worth a read about an beautiful Saint Paul institution. Tensions have been understandably high around the Twin Cities for months, yet there's a valuable lesson here of not allowing speculation to outpace investigation most especially when in the midst of a crisis.
