As far as I can recall we never did run into Alan Bennett in London, nor Nick Hornby, but we did see a man that MIGHT have been Alan Bennett at an Edward Hopper exhibit in New York several years later and kind of tailed him around the museum trying to figure it out
Why Arsenal? Well you see when my mom was in charge of where we would live during my dad’s sabbatical, she picked our neighborhood based on whether we might run into the playwright Alan Bennett, which meant living nearish Nick Hornby, the most beleaguered Arsenal fan of all time
