He is watching and waiting. He is no fool, and he will make any moves necessary to protect China and its interests. I sincerely doubt he would initiate any moves outside of those parameters. He is not a war monger.

What must Xi be making of the collapse of the western governance?

I can't see him taking the political risk of talking real economics!

There's so much smoke and mirrors going on that they will stick to Murdoch or other friendlies.

move the public money we give to rich people schools across to public schools in low income areas. Move the public money we give to landlords across to building public affordable housing. Move the public money wasted on criminalising poor people to alleviating poverty.

I’d love to do that. Guaranteed they won’t like my suggestions, but taxing multinationals, mining and gas exports is a must. The public can’t and don’t want to subsidise them while paying a premium for their products.

Our government is signing us on to be war criminals via AUKUS and closer military ties to the US.

That means all of us, our government is doing this on our behalf. It’s making us all war criminals.

Personally, I’m not really up for it.

It does seem to be their one skill...I just can't see Labor putting up any defence against the billionaires, on any issues, anywhere. They caved in gambling ads, they stuffed NACC, they lie all the time πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

A lot of us have been saying the people in the Trump administration act like this war is a video game.

The White House troll account confirmed it. πŸ‘€

What a colossal pig is this man. The epitome of a toy soldier, the guy who sits in the bath going "pew pew pew" and thinking that a k/d ratio is something to get excited about.

The Iranians are going to put up a better fight than he's expecting which is going to make everything so much worse.

Evicting homeless campers violated human rights, Supreme Court rules The Supreme Court has found a south-east Queensland council violated the human rights of homeless campers.

"Our daughter's ashes have gone missing and we still can't find them," Ms Bobeldyk said.

"It was her birthday last month and to not have the ashes there β€” it hurt."

More than 180 authors quit writers' week. Many returned for a DIY replacement Constellations emerged from the ashes of Adelaide Writers' Week, which was cancelled after authors withdrew over censorship. Organisers share how it came together and lessons for the future.

We stood together against anti-Palestinian racism and they cancelled our festival. So we organised our own.

Very tired now, but very proud of Constellations!

Great in depth coverage from Hannah Story here

And while seeing how this bombing is occurring.
It is a mirror image of Israel's attacks in Palestine/Gaza.
War crimes
Bombing schools, hospitals.

When we voted to get rid of Scotty we didn’t just mean the smirking fool but his policies too. Plus see some accountability for the crimes committed.

What we got was β€œI don’t hold a principle, mate” from the spineless one.

Disappointed doesn’t even come close.

I have always believed that our choices, and actions matter, and even if they do not change the world, or even affect the status quo, we should do the right thing.

I voted for Keating, and then I grew up and started voting green. The world would have been much better without duopolies.

07.03.2026 04:12 πŸ‘ 5 πŸ” 2 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

The irony of elections, people believing that their vote doesn't matter.

The reality, voting for the duopoly so that their vote doesn't matter.

07.03.2026 04:14 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

It may be cynical of me, but I believe that a lot of Australians vote for the duopoly because they are arseholes, not just because they have been misled.
People voted for John Howard because he was/is a right wing, racist prick.

07.03.2026 04:16 πŸ‘ 10 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Media capture, and the sense that ultimately your vote doesn't matter (1975 probably exacerbated this).

Our last decent prime minister was dismissed not long after my 1st birthday in 1975

Is there a legitimate reason why Australians vote so badly?

07.03.2026 02:10 πŸ‘ 18 πŸ” 2 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

I actually hated them (for their constant sh**ing on the Greens "political party") and even I am aghast at what they turned into. Now they're sh**ing on *all of us*, not just the Greens.

Unfortunately I have to concede that you are right David.

I'm sure I'm not the only Labor person to say so.

@albomp.bsky.social is all the way with the "Trumpet for War". He is incredibly disappointing.
