Hereβs what to know about the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Clearfield County β the largest ICE detention center the Northeast.
This is Part 2 of my three-part series on the happenings there @triblive.bsky.social
After the full series is published, I will be looking into follow-up coverage on the facility. Specifically I would love to talk to former workers who quit in the past few years after 2021. Text my work phone # 412-629-3981 with any related tips. Thank you in advance for reading!!
In the wake of numerous ICE detainments in the Pittsburgh area, we felt it poignant to report firsthand on where people are being taken β as well as shed light on how close the facility is to Western Pennsylvania.
I spent a over 12 hours reporting on site in Philipsburg in Central Pennsylvania for this series, as well as numerous hours of virtual calls, inquiries and interviews. Parts 2 and 3 will be coming out tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday.
Despite its scale and proximity to everyday life, much of what happens inside Moshannon Valley remains mysterious. For many nearby residents, the facility is little more than a name on a highway sign. For others, it is a source of unease β raising questions about conditions.
