Long Covid ruled as occupational disease in nurses - Switzerland Long Covid confirmed as an occupational disease in nurses.

But of course it is!
The fact that this is up for debate is the real head-scratcher here.

It was a long ETFO peel meeting tonight.
Both motions I presented were approved unanimously🙏
Next step to lobbying the Ministry of Education to invest in cleaner indoor air, better monintoring & education re: IAQ in all schools is to present these motions for approval at the AGM in the summer.

"In occupational safety law, proof does not require epidemiological certainty. It requires reasonable foreseeability of harm and availability of safer alternatives. Laboratory filtration data, engineering standards and aerosol physics satisfy that threshold."

16.01.2026 00:49 👍 3 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 1

The physics of aerosol spread is the same in hospitals and clinics as it is on farms. But physicians and nurses don't know any aerosol physics, and for some reason they are allowed to set their own completely anti-science guidelines, which will get people killed.

This.

OH and S standards are different for HCWs and for the life of me (and them) I can't understand why.

Totally hear you — OCD makes the ‘what if I touched something?’ alarm go off at max volume.
But here’s the thing most people don’t want to accept:

We already have the equivalent of the study you’re asking for… it’s just written across 6 years of global epidemiology, physics, and basic biology.

If handwashing mattered more than breathing shared air, the pandemic would’ve ended in March 2020.

Respect Alice Wong's call here:
"When I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked either because they think the virus is a hoax, that masking is virtue signaling & a sign of weakness, aren't thinking about it, or that they simply don't care, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving."

you don’t get to indulge in whataboutism as an excuse to not do anything.

stop insisting COVID-aware folk want you to shut down the world. we’re asking you to open it up—for everyone.

so be a big boy/girl: wear a mask, and it you want to help disabled people, take a cue from the late alice wong:

The CSA’s revised standard on respirators should help us all breathe easier New draft standards for respirator use recognize the importance of protecting workers and patients in health-care settings, where there is a higher risk of pathogen exposure

Canada is leading in safety with the new draft of the CSA standard on respirators.

@dickzoutman.bsky.social, @juliamwright.bsky.social, @mark-ungrin.bsky.social, and I explain key updates that bring protections up to date with the evidence on respirator use against airborne disease transmission.

Considering the risks COVID poses to infants and mothers, it’s astounding that obstetricians warn their patients about sushi but not about the airborne pathogen that shall not be named. The institutional denial runs deep and is costing us dearly.

Don’t take medical advice from AI.

Don’t take legal advice from AI.

Don’t take financial advice from AI.

Better yet, stop using generative AI. It’s destroying the environment, it generates slop and is destroying the internet, artists, creativity and our brains.

You probably learned about homonyms in school: words that are pronounced or spelled the same but differ in meaning.

bear (animal)
bear (carry)

But did you know there are actually two kinds of homonyms: homophones and homographs.

Let’s dew this.

So someone came on CBC this week to say 20% of Covid infections result in long COVID & it's just business as usual. No one realizes how dire this stat is.

And CBC keeps on forcing its staff to work in offices with no mitigations
